Zurich Film Festival concluded on Sunday 6th October after a fantastic 11 days of films and a record-breaking attendance of 71,000 visitors up from 58,000 the previous year. The Award Ceremony took place on Saturday evening at the Zurich Opera House. The beautiful building was bathed in purple light and the actors, directors, producers and film makers dressed up in their finery as they flocked into the opera house building for the champagne reception followed by the ceremony itself.

The juries presented the Golden Eye trophies to Mexico for the film LA JAULA DE ORO by Diego Quemada-Diez in the International Feature Film category, to Denmark for the film LEJ EN FAMILIE A/S (RENT A FAMILY INC) by Kaspar Astrup Schroederin for the International Documentary Film category, to the film FINSTERWORLD by Frauke Finsterwalder in the German-Language Feature Film and to Switzerland for the film NEULAND by Anna Thommen in the German-Language Documentary Film category.

As well as receiving the Golden Eye award the winners also received a CHF 20,000 cash prize, together with a budget for CHF 60,000 to promote their films in Swiss cinemas.
Finsterworld also won the Critics Choice Award, the Audience Award was awarded to the film JOURNEY TO JAH by Noël Dernesch and Moritz Springer from Germany and the Children’s Film Audience Award was won by the film BELIEVE by British director David Scheinmann.
