St Moritz White Turf & St Moritz Snow Polo

St Moritz Snow Polo

If you missed the Snow Polo in St Moritz or the St Moritz White Turf last year and were thinking of going along this year then maybe now is the time to book your diary. The season is upon us for some action packed days of equine sport in the fabulous surroundings of St Moritz.

The 30th St Moritz Polo World Cup takes place from 30th January to 2nd February 2014 and the St Moritz White Turf which takes place on the frozen lake of St Moritz is on Sunday 9th, 16th and 23rd February 2014.

NewInZurich friend Rachel attended the St Moritz Snow Polo Event last year.  Not only did she come away with the great action photos you see illustrated here, but she and her family experienced a fabulous weekend in a gorgeous location. It’s an ideal trip outside Zurich for a weekend – not too far away but distant enough to have a completely different look and feel and a great place to take the family. Rachel also has a couple of tips to share in case you are thinking of going to either event.

Tip One – wrap up warmly – even if the sun is shining it is bound to be cold and you’re standing around watching for a long time.

Tip Two – good quality, robust and warm footwear is another must.  You will be walking over snow and ice so you need to make sure you don’t slip and that you’re feet don’t get cold – otherwise you (or your children) will soon be miserable!

Tip Three – Rachel recommends going for the basic entry at the Snow Polo – (last year it was CHF 20 per adult & free for children), rather than paying more to sit in a stand,  as that way you get to see more of the action right by the fences & walking around the corrals as you “people watch” the rich & famous flying in on their private jets.

Both the St Moritz Snow Polo and the St Moritz White Turf are undeniably glamorous events, set amongst the stunningly beautiful, snow-capped mountains of St Moritz with horse-racing, gourmet catering and art exhibitions. However, they are also annual events for race-horse owners, trainers and jockeys from all over the world to meet up, internationally renowned races and unmissable fixtures on the calendar for local people. So why not join in the fun, have a flutter and cheer on your chosen horse?

Hi Emily I’m pretty sure you can buy the tickets on the day but it may be best to call them up to be sure. The website addresses are in the links above. Have fun!
