Züri Fäscht only happens every 3 years – so when it does it’s really special. This year the party or carnival is back in town from 5th – 7th July and the whole of Zurich will be celebrating.
The event itself is free and was first started back in 1951. Hundreds and thousands of visitors will converge on the city for a weekend of fun, entertainment and attractions. There will be rides galore, boat trips, mobile discos, trapeze artists, water sports and amazing acrobatics high in the sky. In addition free music and concerts and everything from camel rides to bouncy castles for kids. On Friday night and Saturday evening from 11 – 11.30pm you must come along to watch the spectacular fireworks – this is a highlight definitely not to be missed!
It will be busy though, as this is a party with wide appeal and everyone will be there from the very young to the very old. There are food booths galore and as well as the obligatory bratwurst and grills, exotic food and refreshments from every corner of the world will be on offer. There is a great feeling of camaraderie, “joie de vivre” and “letting your hair down” – but all this requires lots of planning in advance, so perhaps that is why Züri Fäscht only takes place every 3 years!
Do go along though and see for yourself and experience this once in every three years event! It’s not to be missed!
