It’s always fun to read books written by expats in Switzerland and especially when they are written in a witty and engaging style. Chantal Panozzo is an American writer and copywriter who has been living in Switzerland since 2006. Originally from Chicago, she has written widely about her experiences living in the land of cheese and chocolate.

She has now put together a collection of essays about life in Switzerland entitled Swiss Life: 30 Things I Wish I’d Known . It was published in May 2014 and Chantal read from the book at a joint reading with fellow writer Ana Korkeaviki to an enthusiastic, mainly expat audience at an event organised by Orell Füssli at The Bookstore in Zurich shortly after the launch.

Chantal has been a busy bee since arriving in Zurich and in 2009 she founded Writer Abroad creating an online community for writers living outside their home country. Featuring well-known authors like Maya Frost as well as award-winning journalists like Alan Paul of The Wall Street Journal this platform has certainly taken off.

Chantal also has a popular blog called One Big Yodel and she also manages to find time to run a workshop called “How to Make a Living as a Writer” as part of the “Zurich Writers Workshop”.

If you weren’t able to attend the reading but are interested in winning a copy of this book, NewInZurich has two copies of the book up for grabs! 1. I went to the read and bought the book. It is awesome. I can totally relate to her experience. I wish I’d read something like that before moving here!
