Top Healthy Restaurants in Zurich

NewInZurich guest reporter Daniela is passionate about healthy food and healthy living and wanted to share with us her favourite healthy eating locations in Zurich.

Daniela has noticed that eating healthily is becoming increasingly popular around the world and in Zurich there has been a succession of new restaurants opening offering healthy, well-prepared, fresh food and drinks. Each new restaurant is special and modern in its own way and all are located in different parts of the city, so wherever you are, there is a healthy restaurant about 15 minutes away.

Daniela told us “My favourite healthy restaurants in Zurich include Dean & David, Not Guilty,  Hiltl, Tibits, Yooji’s  and Globus” … Due to popular demand we have added a couple more suggestions which readers have recommended and we have enjoyed.

Hiltl restaurant ZurichHiltl is the oldest and probably the most famous vegetarian restaurant, located just off Bahnhofstrasse at Sihlstrasse 28, 8001 Zürich. Founded in the early 20th century, it was the first vegetarian restaurant in the world. It also offers a meatless menu, fresh juices and smoothies. The Hiltl delicatessen shop is the Hiltl Vegi-MetzgThe Hiltl terrace restaurant at the top of PKZ department store in Bahnhofstrasse. In addition the latest Hiltl restaurant is at Sihlpost Zurich next to Zurich HB near Europaallee. Find out more at the Hiltl website.

Tibits ZurichTibits is located in Seefeldstrasse 2, 8008 Zürich and now at the Sternen in Oerlikon too. Like Hiltl offers vegetarian food that you serve yourself and you pay and weigh. The “food boat” consists of vegetarian food, some vegan, gluten free, dairy free and each section is clearly labelled. Also homemade sandwiches and fresh juices, lemonades, teas and coffees. Learn more by visiting Tibits website.

Ona Poké Zurich

Ona Poké is a new restaurant in Zurich whereby you “build your bowl” from the range of freshly prepared ingredients so that you can individualise the contents according to your personalise taste. Originating in Hawaii, poké bowls are proving very popular in cities all over the world. Ona Poké is located at Bleicherweg 19, 8003 Zurich. Closed Sundays. Visit the Ona Poké website here.

Yooji's ZurichFor sushi lovers, Yooji’s is a sushi restaurant with two locations in Zurich – in Bahnhofstrasse and in Bellevue. My favourite is the Bellevue restaurant and it’s organized as a very large bar with a belt of sushi plates circling the room. You can use the electronic tablets at your table to order special requests, drinks and desserts. There are also tables upstairs for those preferring more of a restaurant feel. To find out more visit the Yooji’s website.

Dean & David restaurant ZurichDean & David is located at Wiessenstrasse 1, 8001 Zurich in Seefeld close to the lake. It’s a new restaurant having opened quite recently. It offers fresh salads of all sorts, healthy wraps and snacks to take away and many different smoothies and juice mixes all made with fresh fruits and vegetables. To take a look at their menu and location visit the Dean & David website.

Not Guilty restaurant ZurichNot Guilty is located in Badenerstrasse 29, 4004 Zurich close to Stauffacher tram stop and about 10-15 minutes from the centre of town. It also offers a wide range of fresh salads suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets as well as a wide range of snacks and drinks. To find out more, visit the Not Guilty website.

Globus restaurant BellevueOf the two Globus restaurants, my favourite is the one located on Bellevue. Globus is a large department store containing a food court offering different cuisine stations. As well as Asian cuisine, sushi, and salads it also has sandwiches and cupcakes. There is also a bar section to sit down for a drink, and on the other side of the food court it offers home decorations such as cushions, candles, lamps and much more. To find out more visit the Globus website.

Best of Swiss Gastro Awards 2016Gartnerei is another favourite that many of you have written in to us about and we would like to include this as well. Their fabulous crispy, fresh “custom salads” are especially popular and all the ingredients are top quality. They now have 3 locations in Zurich – in Seefeld, Sihlstrasse and Stockerstrasse. To find out more please visit the Gartnerei website.
