What’s On in Zurich Beginning of September 2014

The Long Night of the Museums – takes place from 7pm till 2am on Saturday 6th September and is a great opportunity to discover the great museums of Zurich. Take advantage of the “Kombi ticket” which includes entrance to all museums as well as travel in Zone 110, central Zurich. See here for more information.

Discover Zurich Wines – “Entdecke Weine vom Zürichsee” wine tasting event on Sunday 7th September from 1pm – 6pm and on Monday 8th September from 2pm – 8pm at the “Weinpavillion” at the Löewe in Meilen. For more information see here.

The Chramschopf Brockie in Zollikerberg is holding its Herbfest on Saturday 6th September from 11am – 4pm. Why not pop along and you may find a “nearly new” bargain too. More info here.

Expat-Expo 2014 is taking place at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on Sunday 7th September from 11am – 5pm. Discover all kinds of services and products expecially useful to Expats. For more information see here.

Zurich Pink Ribbon Charity Walk – the annual Pink Ribbon charity walk / run takes place a little earlier than usual this year on Sunday 7th September from 12 noon to 5pm at Letzigrund. As well as raising money for a great cause the run is always a lot of fun and you even get a goodie bag and a pink t shirt when you take part. If you’ve missed the deadline for registering it’s always great to go along and support the runners. For more information please see here.

Dolder Classics – for the car lovers amongst you there is a “Dolder Classics” event with an exhibition of classic vehicles on Sunday 7th Septmember. It’s free of charge and just CHF 5 to exhibit your car. Why not take your swimsuit as it’s right next to the Dolder Swimming pool and go along for a swim too. More information here.

Fork, Brush & Bottle with Joanne Finnegan – takes place next on Tuesday 9th Septmber at the Fork & Bottle in Zurich. Why not get creative and have a go? More information here.

The American Women’s Club is hosting it’s “Kickoff Luncheon” on Tuesday 23rd September at their Club House in Schöntalstrasse from 11.30 until 2.130. With prosecco, live music and an ice cream sundae bar and lots more. See here for full details.

Fashion Hotel at the 25 Hours Hotel – on the 10th to 12th October the hotel 25 Hours will be hosting a weekend full of fashion with with fashion shows, pop-up-stores, bars DJs and lots of fun. For more information see here

Knabenschiessen 13th – 15th September – it’s that time of year again when the kids’ shooting contest takes place in Zurich. As well as the shooting ranges there is all the fun of the fair with stalls and rides and snacks and lots more. Slow up 28th September from 10am – 5pm- the Slow Up event from Meilen through to Rapperswil (and beyond) has to be one of my favourite activities. Hopefully they will have finished some more of the roadworks before it starts 🙂 For more information please see here.

EWZ Stattkino in Zurich is hosting a great line up of films including many English language films – all with original soundtrack!  The “best of” program is running from 13th – 26th October. Museum Bellerive “Coming Into Fashion” – A Century of Fashion Photography at Condé Nast exhibition. If you love fashion and photography this is a great exhibition to visit. It has recently opened and runs until 19th October with video footage as well as iconic fashion photos. Well worth a visit. Open Tuesday – Sunday from 10am – 5pm (Thursday till 8pm).  Swiss Circus Monti – are in Zurich performing their 30th anniversary show at Sechseläutenplatz  until 21st September. A traditional Swiss circus,  they will be enthralling audiences both young and old. More information here.

Pumpkin Exhibition – from the end of August to the beginning of November it’s pumpkin time at the Jucker Farm. For more information (in German) please see the Jucker Farm website.

Freestyle.ch is in Zurich on 27th and 28th September. Enjoy the thrills and spills of the freestyle sports enacted right in the centre of Zurich.  See here for all the details.

Grand Cinema Switzerland – exhibition at the Landesmuseum until 19th October all about Swiss films. It takes an in-depth look at  changes to Swiss values and the Swiss way of life as seen through Swiss films dating back to the 1920s.
