What’s On in Zurich End of September 2014 onwards

Epicure Gourmet Food Festival 18th – 21st September – the Restaurant at the Dolder Grand with 18 Gault-Millau points and 2 Michellin stars is Zurich’s highest rated restaurant and it will play host to this very special gourmet event. Please see here for more information.

The Cows are coming down the Mountains – it’s the time of year that the cows come down the mountains in Switzerland after the Summer in the pastures up on high. Why not go along and see one of the Alpabfahrts? Read here for more information

International Car-Free Day – takes place on Monday 22nd September and although Zurich doesn’t take part there is a “bike demo and bike ride” or “Velodemo” setting off from Bürkliplatz at 6.30pm. See here for details of the tour.

Pumpkin Exhibition – from now until the beginning of November it’s pumpkin time at the Jucker Farm. For more information (in German) please see the Jucker Farm website.

The American Women’s Club is hosting it’s “Kickoff Luncheon” on Tuesday 23rd September at their Club House in Schöntalstrasse from 11.30 until 2.130. With prosecco, live music and an ice cream sundae bar and lots more. See here for full details.

British Artist Dan MacGregor  – will be exhibiting his work “Leaving Lines” at the Sheraton Hotel in Zurich from 22nd September onwards. For more information please see here.

Zurich Film Festival  – is back in town from 25th September to 5th October celebrating it’s 10 year anniversary. Amongst other stars coming to Zurich for the event, there will be Liam Neeson, Cate Blanchett and Antonio Banderas. There will be a kids’ film programme too this year and also an Indian film event. Cows Alpabzug Switzerland

Züspa – is on at the Messe in Oerlikon, Zurich from the 26th September – 5th October. Lots of food and drink stalls, and everything you can think of to buy from furniture to clothes and lots more. They even have outdoor enclosures with farm animals! A great day out for all the family. For more information and to buy tickets please go to the website.

Slow Up 28th September from 10am – 5pm- the Slow Up event from Meilen through to Rapperswil (and beyond) has to be one of our favourite activities. Hopefully they will have finished some more of the roadworks before it starts  For more information please see here.

Cashmere for a cause – in Zumikon, October 2nd, 3rd and 4th, a private sale of beautiful high-end cashmere : women & men sweaters, scarves, shawls, ponchos, chapkas and more … 100% of profits go towards the education of orphans in China, a cause that the organizer was directly involved with during her time in Shanghai. Fashion Hotel at the 25 Hours Hotel – on 10th to 12th October the hotel 25 Hours will be hosting a weekend full of fashion with with fashion shows, pop-up-stores, bars DJs and lots of fun. For more information see here

Art International Zurich Exhibition – takes place at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on 17th, 18th and 19th October with a Vernissage on the evening of Thursday 16th. Grand Cinema Switzerland – exhibition at the Landesmuseum until 19th October all about Swiss films. It takes an in-depth look at  changes to Swiss values and the Swiss way of life as seen through Swiss films dating back to the 1920s. You can see the films in ten specially built museum cinemas. Find out what “Switzerland” and “being Swiss” really mean. For more information see here,

Museum Bellerive “Coming Into Fashion” – A Century of Fashion Photography at Condé Nast exhibition. If you love fashion and photography this is a great exhibition to visit. It has recently opened and runs until 19th October with video footage as well as iconic fashion photos. Well worth a visit. Open Tuesday – Sunday from 10am – 5pm (Thursday till 8pm). EWZ Stattkino in Zurich – is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary with a great line up of films including many English language films – all with original soundtrack!  The “best of” program is running from 13th – 26th October.
