Traditional Swiss Watchmaking meets Smartwatches
There were many announcements made over the course of the eight days of the event. This year there was a certain interest in Smartwatches as well as more traditional Swiss watches, a new area that is attracting media interest all over the world. Tag Heuer’s announcement by it’s charismatic chief Jean-Claude Biver certainly aroused a lot of interest as they talked about their collaboration with Intel and Google. One of a dozen or so of the 219 Swiss watch brands at Baselworld launching a smart watch, Jean-Claude said that their aim is to produce “the world’s first luxury Android Wear smart watch”.
