When the weather is fine there’s nothing to beat hiking in Switzerland in the Spring. NewInZurich photo competition winner Arnamoy Bhattacharyya went hiking in the region of Solothurn and shared these gorgeous photos with us.

The hike started in the centre of Solothurn and ended 17 kms later in Grenchen. Arnamoy said that the route was not very challenging apart from the distance as it’s quite a long hike ! It takes around four and a half hours and is open all year round.

Along the way you get stunning views, sometimes across canyons, sometimes across farms. There is also beautiful flora and fauna to be seen.

A shortened version of this hike would be suitable for families with children. At the beginning of the route there is the canyon, but you also get a fantastic view of the Mittelland and the River Aare River and the Alps. Of course you also get to see the odd cow or two!
