What’s On in Zurich Easter 15 and Beyond


The weather in Zurich has been stormy and mixed with all fours Seasons rolled into one over the past few days. It looks like it’s not all over yet either – so we may be in for a mixed time over Easter. Keep handy your umbrella, raincoat, snow boots and sunglasses too! Frau Gerolds Garten Sunday 5th April

Why not go along to Frau Gerolds Garten on Sunday 5th April to “Dance the Winter Away”? Live music from10pm onwards. More information here.

Zurich Boats ZCG Celebrate 125 years

and the Easter Bunny (with a supply of Easter eggs) will be on the Easter Sunday boat cruise departing Zurich Bürkliplatz at 1.30pm.  More information (in German) here.

Easter Monday Zwänzgerle

why not try out Zurich’s Easter Monday tradition called “Zwänzgerle”? It takes place from 10am till noon at Rüdenplatz along the Limmatquai. It involves throwing 20 Rappen coins (Zwänzgerle) trying to get them to stick to other people’s a hardboiled eggs. If you win you get to keep the other person’s hard boiled egg. Hard boiled eggs are sold on the spot.

Sechselaeuten 13th April 2015 – Zurich’s Spring Festival – Burning of the Böög

mark your diaries for Zurich’s Spring Festival Sechselaeuten with the burning of the Böög, the marching of the Guilds and lots of fun for all the family. See our post from last year to get some impressions. How long do you think the Böög will burn for? Why not enter this contest to place your bet?

Monet, Gaugin and Van Gogh Japanese Inspirations until 10th May

if you haven’t seen this exhibition yet it’s definitely worth visiting. It’s on at the Kunsthaus Zurich until 10th May. For more information please see here

Rodriguez Searching for Sugar Man in Zurich on 13th May

the legendary singer Rodriguez will be performing an additional concert at the Kongresshaus in Zurich on 13th May (12th May is now sold-out). For more information and to book tickets see here.

Visit the Paul Gauguin Exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel

on now until 18th June. Featuring a unique collection of 50 of Gauguin’s masterpieces this exhibition focuses on Gauguin’s time in Tahiti and the world famous painting he produced whilst there. See the website for details.

British Artist Dan MacGregor at the Sheraton Hotel

Dan’s exhibition “Leaving Lines” is currently showing at the Sheraton Hotel in Zurich. For more information and to get some idea of the artworks on show please see here.

Straw Exhibition (Strohwelten) at the Jucker Farm now until beginning May

well known for their pumpkin exhibitions, the Jucker Farm have now branched out into sculptures and statues made of straw. Why not take a trip to the straw exhibition at the Bächlifhof in Rapperswil Jona and see for yourself. It’s free! More information here.

Dolder Classics 10th May

why not check out the classic cars (or “old-timers” as they’re known in Switzerland!) at the Dolder ice rink in Zurich. The next diary date is 10th May and they’re open from 9am – 5pm. it’s coming to the end of the Skiing Season and there will be end of season bashes at many of resorts in the next few weeks. They are great fun and definitely worth a visit. Hopefully there are a few snow packed days on the mountains before then.
