What’s On in Zurich Early June 2015

 

Hopefully you’ve been enjoying the great weather we’ve been having in Zurich over the past week or so. If you’re looking for some ideas of things to do please see this week’s “What’s On” below for some ideas:

Ethical Fashion Event June 6th 12 – 4pm

ethical, luxury fashion event in Zurich from 12 noon to 4pm. For more information on the Bodhisattva Experience see here.

International Festival at ICS in Zumikon Sunday 7th June 11am – 4pm

is taking place this Sunday at ICS School in Zumikon. It’s a very special event for all the family with 18 food booths from 21 countries. There is an “amped up” Photo Booth with costumes, backdrops and lots of creativity and ELSA Make It Special, a local children’s entertainment company, will be signing autographs. Other attractions include the very popular “Dunk a Teacher”  stand, live entertainment, games and a bouncy castle as well as InterSoccer and Taekwon-Do. Best of all, it’s all for a really good cause! All proceeds from the Festival will go to the SMD Earthquake Relief and Rebuilding Fund.

International Festival Zumikon

Circus Knie in Sechseläutenplatz till 7th June

Zurich Pride Festival is taking place on 19th and 20th June. More information here.

Museum für Gestaltung Steve McCurry Exhibition 3rd July – 18th October

don’t miss this exhibition of the great photographer Steve McCurry’s work at the Museum für Gestaltung. Famous for the iconic picture of the green-eyed Afghan girl McCurry’s work is influenced heavily by travel and adventure. See here for more information.

Red Bull Flying Illusion 5th – 7th June

the hugely acclaimed Berlin break dancers “Flying Steps” are set to visit Zurich on 5th-7th June and tickets are expected to sell-out. For more information see here.

Festspiele Zurich: Money Power Love 12th June – 12th July

Money, Power, Love or “Geld, Macht, Liebe” in German is the theme of this yea’s ” Festspiele Zurich”. Focusing on the work of William Shakespeare it covers a range of cultural events – including theatre, opera, music, exhibitions and more. For further details please see the website.

Art Basel 18th – 21st June

featuring almost 300 leading international galleries over 2,500 artists, from great masters of modern art to emerging artists, it takes place at the Messeplatz in Basel from the18th – 21st June. For more information visit the website.

Rhy Art Fair Basel 17th – 21st June
also taking place in Basel during Art Basel Week, at the Rheinufer in Basel-St.Johann, only 7 minutes from the Messeplatz, the Rhy Art Fair is an additional exhibition of art. For tickets see here.

Il Tavolo Food Festival in Zurich 24th – 28th June

Love great food? Then this is a festival for you! Top chefs including those from the Baur Au Lac, the Park Hyatt, the Storchen, the Dolder Grand and the Widder Hotel pit their wits to create special menus for Il Tavolo events which will be taking place all over Zurich  from 24th – 28th June. Blues’n’Jazz Rapperswil 25th – 28th June

Swimming in Zurich in the Badis 

there’s nothing nicer than swimming in one of the “Badis” or in the lake in Zurich once the sun comes out. Many of the swimming pools opened their doors for the season on 9th May. Here is a list of places you can go swimming in Zurich.
