It’s been sizzling in Zurich this past week and the hot temperatures are set to continue all through the following week. Enjoy the sunshine (and the amazing sunsets we’ve been having) and take a look at some of the events on all over town.


Caliente at Zueri Faescht

Caliente Latin Music and Dance Festival 3rd – 5th July

this acclaimed latin festival is celebrating its 20th anniversary on 3rd, 4th and 5th July. Lot of music and dancing and there is also a parade. For more information see here ( in German).

Zurich Sommernachtsball 4th July Zurich Hauptbahnhof

grab your dancing shoes! This year the Zurich Sommernachtsball is taking place on 4th July at Zurich main station from 8pm to 2am. If you’ve never been before you should give it a try – it’s great fun! They even have extra dancing partners on hand if yours won’t dance!  See the program here or go to the website (in German). Free Concerts at the Bäckeranlage from 8th July – 3rd September

every Summer Stadt Zurich organises free concerts in the Bäckeranlage park in Zurich on Wednesday evenings. The best thing is that they are totally FREE! Bob Spring and The Calling Sirens is on Wednesday 8th July. To view the list of concerts see here.

Festspiele Zurich: Money Power Love 12th June – 12th July

Money, Power, Love or “Geld, Macht, Liebe” in German is the theme of this yea’s ” Festspiele Zurich”. Focusing on the work of William Shakespeare it covers a range of cultural events – including theatre, opera, music, exhibitions and more. For further details please see the website.

Aufsehen Summer Festival in Zurich 25th June – 6th September

check out all the pieces of art hanging up around Zurich this Summer as part of the Aufsehen Summer Festival. There are be about 30 different projects, including photo shoots, art openings and more. Can you regognise any of the famous faces hanging down Bahnhofstrasse?   For more information see here.

Hot weather and cool bathing!

they’re predicting more sizzling temperatures in Zurich next week so you may fancy cooling off in a Badi or swimming pool. Take a look at this article for a list of Badis in Zurich.

The Open Air Literatur Festival Zurich

opens at the Alter Botanischer Garten from 6th July with John Cleese reading from his autobiography in English. Sadly it is sold out – but take a look at the other international and Swiss writers taking part. See here for details. 

Filmfluss – Summer Open Air Cinema at Badi Unterer Letten

watch films by the water! From the 8th – 26th July there is Open Air Cinema taking place at the Badi Unterer Letten at Wasserwerkstr. 131,  8037 Zürich. There are films in English as part of the program but do check first! Doors open at 8.30pm and the films start at around 9.30pm. Arrive early to avoid disappointment. Salt Openair Cinema (formerly Orange) 

will be at the Zurichhorn by the lake from 16th July – 16th August but you can buy tickets online from 12.30 on 3rd July.  See here for details.

don’t miss this exhibition of the great photographer Steve McCurry’s work at the Museum für Gestaltung. Famous for the iconic picture of the green-eyed Afghan girl McCurry’s work is influenced heavily by travel and adventure. See here for more information.
