The 51st Limmat Swim took place on Saturday in optimal conditions – both with regards to the water temperature and the sunshine. The lovely weather attracted lots of spectators in addition to the 4,500 people who took part in the event. Having been postponed from the previous Saturday due to poor weather conditions it was wonderful that this Saturday was such a perfect day.

The EWZ-Challenge race was won by Alessio Pietra in 24.12 min and the first woman to complete was Michal Zilberberg in just 24.45 min.

For most people, however, it was simply a fun day out on Zurich’s main river, floating and swimming and enjoying themselves.

Did you know that the Limmat Swim first took place in 1945? Due to weather conditions etc it has not been able to take place every year and that is why this year’s event was the 51st event.
