What’s On In Zurich Mid to End August 2015
The Dörflifäscht 21st – 23rd August in the Niederdorf
starting on Friday 21st late afternoon and continuing all weekend, the annual Dörflifäscht will be taking place in the Niederdorf in Zurich. Most of the action takes place around the Hirschenplatz and as well as live music and DJs there will be lots of food and drink and a great atmosphere. For more information see the website.
Coffee Friday at Kaufleuten 21st August
discover everything you ever wanted to about coffee at Kaufleuten on 21st August. It’s open from 10am till 9pm and entrance is free! A must for coffee lovers in Zurich. See here for more information.
Winterthur Musikfestwochen till 23rd August
why not take a short trip to Winterthur to enjoy some of the concerts which are taking place until 23rd August. Thai Food and Culture Festival in Bülach 21st – 23rd August
this event takes place from August 21st – 23rd and as well as offering lots of opportunities to sample Thai food, there is also Thai Sword dancing, Thai music and even an “elephant club” offering child care for your little ones. For more information see the website.
Yay! The Limmat Swim is taking place on 22nd August!
yes, it’s getting more and more popular every year – and this year all the 4,500 tickets were sold in 45 minutes! It’s really tough if you tried but didn’t get one – but it is still a great event to watch even if you can’t take to the water. It starts at 12 noon at the Frauenbadi and lasts all afternoon – so do go along as a spectator and why not email us your best snaps? We’d love to feature our readers’ experiences of the swim (whether or not they were taking part) so please email us any photos you get and we’ll try and feature as many as we can. Zürcher Theater Spektakel 6th – 23rd August
continues in the fields at Zurich’s Landiwiese this outdoor theatre festival features some great acts as well as some shows in English. Lots of great food to eat in the open air too. More information here.
Ballenberg Old Timer Tractor Event 29th – 30th August
why not take a trip down to Ballenberg on the 29th – 30th August to witness a unique display of over 200 Antique tractors and pieces of farm equipment. There will be vehicles from all eras on display, each telling it’s own story as a piece of Swiss agricultural history. For more information please visit the Ballenberg Openair website.
Zurich Openair 26th – 29th August
don’t miss Zurich’s big open air Summer music festival. Taking place in Kloten, close to Zurich airport there is a great line up and the event lasts 4 days. For more information and to see who’s playing and learn about the new cashless method of payment see here.
Street Parade 29th August
the annual street party will be taking place on Saturday 29th August in the centre of Zurich. It’s Europe’s largest outdoor electronic music party. Roads will be closed and the people of Zurich (and lots of visitors who come specifically for this extravaganza) will be letting their hair down and having fun. Super Kids Brunch Radio Day 30th August

The New Red SwissPass
there is a new way for your GA and Halbtax to be purchased. For all new cards purchased from 1st August you get a SwissPass and as soon as your current GA or Halbtax runs out you too will be able to replace it with a SwissPass. Read all about the changes here
