Great Skiing at Flims and Laax
in Switzerland
Fancy some great skiing not too far from Zurich? Have you visited Flims and Laax?
You can’t go wrong by taking a trip to Flims and Laax. Together with Falera, Flims and Laax together make up one big resort with something for everyone. It’s one of Europe’s most snow-sure ski regions and easily accessible as it’s just 10 minutes from the nearest motorway exit.
The altitude ranges from 1,100 to 3,018m and it appeals to boarders, skiers, walkers and tobogganers alike.
It takes around 90 minutes drive from Zurich to reach Flims and it’s approximately 20 minutes from Chur. The town of Flims boast a number of sport shops, restaurants, cafes and bars, including some at the bottom of the slopes too, where you can chill, have a drink and listen to music. There are also plenty of good mountain restaurants directly on the slopes offering a whole range of food from cheese raclette to sausages and meat kebabs, to fine dining. (Update: Please note that currently Covid regulations are in place and only take away is possible).
Laax is the arguably the trendier, younger option – but both ski resorts are linked which makes for a great skiing area, one of the largest in Switzerland.
Boarders can choose from 4 snow parks and the resort has the biggest half pipe in Europe. You can visit the bars on the slopes to warm up between runs or maybe tuck into some traditional Swiss mountain cuisine. Many of the bars stay open till late and it is a great skiing resort for all the family.
