So relax, put on your shades and hopefully the sun will shine!
White Port with Tonic
White port is a sophisticated but refreshing drink which is quite new in Switzerland – why not try it out? It’s an ideal Summer cocktail. Here’s what you need:
3 parts Tonic
1 part Graham’s fine white port
1 Wedge of Lemon or Lime – optional sprig of mint
Place a few ice cubes in a tumbler and add Graham’s white port, the tonic and give it a stir before adding a slice of lemon and sprig of mint.
Fabulously orange in colour Apérol oozes Summer and at the same time it’s refreshing and thirst quenching with a slightly bitter hint. Here’s how you make it:
3 parts Prosecco
2 parts Apérol
1 part soda/ sparkling water
Place ice cubes in the glass. Add the Aperol, soda and top with a slice of orange
The Hugo seems to have become somewhat of a staple in Zurich and the elderflower makes it light, delicate and refreshing. To make the the perfect Hugo you need:
3cl elderflower syrup
2cl sparkling water
Mint leaves and slices of lime to decorate
A true Summer classic – or is that just British bias? The Wimbledon drink with its dark rich colour, fruity content and refreshing taste. So how do you make the perfect Pimms?
1 part Pimm’s and 3 parts lemonade
Lots of ice cubes 1 slice each of orange and lemon, 2 slices cucumber, 1 strawberry sliced and a sprig of mint
Fill a glass 1/2 full of ice & pour in the Pimm’s. Add fruit and some more ice. Top with lemonade, stir and serve.
A French Classic and not so much a Summer drink as an anytime drink. On a recent trip to France everyone was drinking this before dinner. It’s extremely easy to make:
Place 1 – 2 tablespoons of crème de cassis in a flute glass and fill to the top with sparkling wine or champagne. Et voilà!
Möet Ice Imperial
Or how about a glass of Möet Ice Imperial on ice for an easy and refreshing Summer drink? Designed to be the first ever champagne specifically created to be enjoyed on ice during the daytime, it’s great served in large glasses with mint leaves or a slice or two of cucumber or lime. Or why not try adding white grapefruit zest, or even a thin slice of ginger, or maybe cardamom seeds or strawberries?
