New Premium Economy Class
NewInZurich recently took a sneak peak behind the scenes at Zurich Airport to see Singapore airlines all-new premium economy class now available to its customers. Starting from 24th October, Singapore airlines will be flying their A380 plane daily, en route from Zurich to Singapore, with a two-way ticket currently costing approximately CHF 1200. The head of Singapore airlines who was in attendance, joked that this was perhaps cheaper than a meal for two in Zurich!
Overall, the premium economy class has an exceptional setup, and provides flyers with extra legroom and wider seats. In addition to more space, other features such as HD TV screens, noise cancelling headphones, and adjustable reading lamps are all available in every seat as an attempt to make the experience of flying a little less distressing.
The airline is aware that a twelve hour flight can get quite tiresome, and therefore has constructed a way of flying which caters to the comfort of its customers. Larger pillows are available for all premium economy class flyers, making it easier to achieve a good rest in the air.
Besides sleeping, another aspect of flying which people tend to complain about is the food. When flying with Singapore’s premium economy class, you are given the option to utilize the ‘book the cook’ system, a process which lets you order your meals in advance. The airline takes pride in ensuring the highest quality of food, and therefore has established a culinary panel with top chefs from around the world to create their menu. This menu is based on a wide variety of cuisines to accommodate the varying requirements of its customers. The menu is often based on the destination of the flight, serving for example a Western dish and an Asian dish for a Zurich-Singapore flight.
Brigitte Fleischauer, the Area Director of Central & Southern Europe for the Singapore tourist board, told us that Switzerland has about 101,000 people going to Singapore every year, making it the 4th largest population of people to visit the nation in the world. With the beautiful Marina Bay Sands Hotel, the views from skypark, and the quaint ethnic quarters, Singapore seems to be a magnificent destination to visit. And now, with the introduction of Singapore’s premium economy class, flying from Switzerland to Singapore has become easier and more relaxing than ever.
