The Limmatschwimmen is the big event in Zurich this weekend and even if you didn’t manage to get tickets it’s a great event to watch from the banks of the Limmat. Have fun whatever you do and here are a few more suggestions on things to do for the week ahead.

Limmatschwimmen – 27th August

this Saturday 27th of August from 12 noon to 4.30pm the Limmatschwimmen takes place starting at the Frauenbadi in Zurich. Have fun and enjoy!  See here for details.

Zurich Openair Festival 24th – 27th August

Zurich’s very own Openair Festival has a great line up featuring Amy MacDonald, the Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack and lots more. See here for details. 

Sihlcity Art and Food Market 24th – 27th August

Theater Spektakel Zurich Daily Till 4th September

one of the most notable cultural events in Europe is taking place right here in Zurich until 4th September. Over 20 performing arts groups will be taking the stage at Landiwiese, creating some incredible shows. There are lots of impromptu acts to see too and lots of food and drink options to keep you fed and watered.  A great destination to visit with family or friends.  See here for more information.

free event at Löwenbräukunst on Friday 26th August from 7pm, bringing together artists and collaborators of Manifesta 11 as well musicians, djs, food projects and more. To go along and enjoy this one night only Sommerfest register here.

LUMA Schwarzescafé and Pop Up Dinner 27th & 28th August

on until 18th September Heimo Sobering’s “Schwarzescafé”  at the LUMA Westbau with art exhibitions, film screenings, food and drinks. For more information see here.

The Newly Revamped Swiss National Museum

if you’ve not visited the Swiss National Museum for a while you’ll be amazed at its transformation complete with a brand new wing. It’s a great day out – find out more here.

Weltklasse Athletics 1st September

the Weltklasse athletics event will be taking place on 1st September at Letzigrund but you can buy tickets online  – see here for details. 

2nd September the Viadukt’s 6th Birthday Party and British Cheese Centre’s Scottish Theme

pop along to the Viaduct on 2nd September to help celebrate their 6th birthday and while you’re at it go and visit Mike at the British Cheese Centre where he will have  Scottish beer from Brewdog on tap, Hot Toddies, Whisky Pimms, lots of Scottish cheese and even Whisky Rarebit Bagels! Rundfunk.fm at the Landesmuseum Daily till 3rd September

the annual radio-fest Rundfunk.fm started in Zurich on Friday 5th and it will be broadcasting daily at the Landesmuseum from 5 pm to midnight with lots of music and food, drink and fun. Entry is FREE! To find out more visit the Rundfunk website here.

Die Lange Nacht der Museen – Zurich Museums Open Night 3rd September

every year Zurich Museums open their doors late into the night for a special event called the Long Night of the Museums. For a fixed price you can visit as many as you can fit in and have a lot of fun too. See here for details and prices.

Pink Ribbon Charity Walk for Breast cancer 4th September

Day Trip From Zurich to Flumserberg to Hike and Experience the Floozer

you can easily get to Flumserbeg in about an hour from Zurich and not only is it a great place to hike but you can also experience the amazing Floozer toboggan in Summer. It’s apparently the longest in the world and great fun! Read all about it here.
