Zurich film festival 2016

The weather could not be better for the 2016 Zurich Film Festival. So far the city has been basking in early Autumn sunshine, the lake is bright blue and the actors are hitting the Green Carpet in their finery. Have you spotted any stars so far?

Well in case you haven’t, Carmen Sirboiu has been out clicking away on behalf of NewInZurich and here are some of the great shots she has captured to date.

Uma Thurman added a bit of glamour to Saturday’s Green Carpet appearance dressed in a full length black velvet dress by Brandon Maxwell and her hair in an elegant up-do.

More Than Films

In addition to the Green Carpet there are lots of events going on in conjunction with the Film Festival. NewInZurich was lucky enough to be invited to the Nespresso event which began with us watching the premiere of Bridget Jones’s Baby – which is both hilarious and highly recommended! –  see the trailer here.

Food & Mixology with Ralph Schelling and Nespresso

Following the film we were treated to flying dinner by the young chef Ralph Schelling, who has worked with many top chefs including Ferràn Adrià, Heston Blumenthal and Andreas Caminada.

Once the dinner was over, there was a fun “talent contest” between Ralph’s team who created a food recipe and Holger Steffen’s team who created a cocktail. Holger is the chief barista at Nespresso and a talented mixologist having created over 100 coffee cocktails. In the end both the audience and the jury (which featured top chef Heiko Nieder from the Dolder Grand) decided on the drink and Holger’s team won.

Park Hyatt Cannes Meets ZFF Lunch with Christian Sinicropi

The Park Hyatt Hotel Zurich had the idea to unite two Film Festival cities, Zurich and Cannes, with food, by hosting a lunch with top chef from the Grand Hyatt Cannes, Christian Sinicropi. The chef flew in from Cannes to cook at the Park Hyatt Zurich bringing his own signature plates to display the dishes. More to follow in a separate article.
