What’s On in Zurich Late April 2017 Onwards

There’s been both snow and sunshine almost simultaneously in Zurich this week so it will be interesting to discover the Böögg’s forecast for Summer 2017. Next Monday shortly after 6pm we will all find out. For more information about Zurich’s traditional Sechselaeuten celebrations as well as what else is happening in town, take a look below.
Irish Celtic – Spirit of Ireland 18th – 23rd April
the Irish Celtic show will be finishing in Zurich at Theater 11 on Sunday 23rd April. To find out more (in German) and book tickets see here.
Blickfang Basel International Design Fair 21st – 23rd April
if you fancy a day out at the Blickfang Design and Shopping Fair this weekend then head to Basel! For more information take a look at the Blickfang website here.
Sechselaeuten and the Burning of the Böögg Monday 24th April
as always Sechselaeuten is celebrated on a Monday and on 24th April not only will you see the streets of Zurich filled with guilds people dressed up in historic clothes, men on horseback racing round Sechselaeutenplatz and burning of the giant snowman, the Böögg, but it is also a half day holiday in Zurich too so many of the shops and businesses will close early. The event is celebrated over the whole weekend so find out all about it here.
EVITA – Don’t Cry For Me Argentina 25th – 30th April
the musical EVITA will be showing in Zurich at Theater 11 from 25th – 30th April. Find out more here.
Soy de Cuba Musical and Dance Show in Zurich on 28th April only
if you want to be transported to Cuba with the music and dancing of this fantastic show which has been touring key cities in Europe since 2015, you had better be quick as tickets are selling fast. It’s also on in Basel on Friday 21st April. For more information please see here.

Osiris – Exhibition about the Sunken Treasures of Egypt
Clive Greaves went to visit the beautiful Museum Rietberg and see the Osiris exhibition there and he was very impressed. The exhibition continues until 16th July. Find out all about it here.

The New Freitag Bird R124 Bag
we always love visiting the Freitag tour in Zurich and if you need one more reason to go it could be because you want to see their latest bag – the Bird R124 bag. Named after British explorer Isabella Bird it has plenty of room and is of course made of recycled tarpaulin. Read all about it here.
Kiev’s Pysanky Easter Egg Festival
this year the Eurovision Song Contest will be hosted in Kiev and we went along to visit the city and take a sneak peek around the stadium (more to follow). Whilst we were there we got to see the famous Pysanky Easter Egg Festival of over 500 Easter Eggs in Sophia Square which was truly impressive. See our photos here.
