Zurich’s Colourful Street Art and Graffiti
You don’t have to be in Zurich for long before seeing plenty of Street Art or Graffiti. Some of it is messy, mundane and looks out of place, but some is really stunning. The thing is that it is constantly evolving. Some great pieces of street art remain in place for years, if not decades. Other pieces are far more transient. Some only lasting a few days or weeks, before they get sprayed over, or embellished in some way.
In Springtime above
In Winter
This one above (seen in both Spring in the top photos and in Winter in the other) is one of my favourites and it is located on a huge wall In Zurich’s Kreis 5. This mural occupies the whole of the wall and is in fact Switzerland’s tallest mural. It is by artist Patrick Wehrli who goes by the name “Redl” and he painted it with fellow artist Alex Hohl.
From animals to slogans to 3D images there is something very colourful about much of the work.
Some of it is amusing and some quite thought-provoking.
It’s always fun strolling through Zurich finding new pieces of street art.
Take a look through these pictures and see what you think. Which one is your favourite?
There are certain areas around Zurich where you can find more Street Art than others and the area between Prime Tower and the Viadukt is a rich source of this form of artistic expression.
Have you seen any good examples which we’re missing from this collection? If so, tell us in the comments section below!

That’s great. I love street art and you found some good ones. I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with most of Zürich’s street art. So much of it is just stylized letters from the 80s era. Hopefully this will slowly change.
