Swiss Brands Tissot Watches and Reka Connect in the Jura
There are many beautiful areas in Switzerland and one of those is the Jura Valley. Recently we were invited to the Jura to find out about two big Swiss brands which hail from this region and have recently formed a partnership with the Reka Holiday Village at Monfaucon.
Reka Holiday Village Monfaucon
Tissot watches and Reka Holiday villages have recently formed a partnership with the establishment of the new Reka Holiday Village of Monfaucon and we went along to find out what it was all about.
You’re all probably familiar with Tissot watches – but have you heard of Reka and their holiday villages throughout Switzerland? At first the collaboration may seem a little incongrouous, as one is a an international luxury brand and the other is a very popular but affordable Swiss brand, but both companies have their roots firmly in the Jura.
Number One Companies
In fact, both Tissot and Reka are Swiss companies which are number one in their respective fields; Tissot is number one in sales of traditional Swiss watches and Reka is number 1 for family holidays in Switzerland. Also they both have the Swiss cross in their logo – a big plus!
Tissot has been innovating in the field of classic and luxury Swiss watches for 160 years. As the official timekeeper for cycling, motorcycling, fencing and ice hockey world championships, (and in 1957 for the Davis Cup), they have a worldwide reputation as an esteemed watch brand. Tissot’s sport connections extend further, as they have also been a key sponsor for the Formula One teams Lotus, Renault and Sauber.
Tissot’s very first engagement as an official timekeeper was back in 1938 where they did the timing for the Ski races in Villar, a town close to the company’s roots in the Jura mountains.
Reka Holiday Villages
Reka villages offer comfortable and affordable accommodation for families with lots of activities such as bikes, e-biking tours, mini golf and of course there is also plenty of walking, hiking and exploring available too.
Reka Holiday Village Monfaucon
Located in beautiful leafy scenery, the Holiday Village Monfaucon offers plenty to do and there is plenty to demonstrate the cooperation with Tissot, with their clocks proudly on display.
As well as the sports facilities, there are wellness facilities, with pools, sauna, steam and treatments such as massages and facials too – and at very affordable prices too, starting at just CHF 70. For keep fit afficianados who want to keep up their training there is also a gym!
In Montfaucon, 33 residential buildings (single or twin family houses) have been completely renovated. The village takes ecological considerations very strongly, and local wood is used to supply energy.
The result is a very practical and comfortable complex with simple yet spacious and modern accommodation, where amenities include kitchens and fireplaces. One very big bonus for families is that they organise both baby care and childcare and run mini clubs on site .
Biking and E-Biking
The village also has a partnership with the biking company Thömus from Bern and you can hire e-mountain bikes to discover the natural scenery of this beautiful part of Switzerland.
Places to Visit
If sport is not your thing and you prefer to go sight-seeing, we can recommend a visit to the Watch Museum. The International Museum of Horology, or “Musée International d’horlogerie”, as it is known, is a museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, dedicated to watch making and the study of time and timekeeping devices.
There you can see the most amazing time keeping creations dating back hundreds of years and you can feel the deep connection that the Jura Valley has with the watch making industry.
So if you’re looking for an interesting and very beautiful part of Switzerland to explore, why not visit the Jura and maybe try out the Monfaucon Reka Village?
Tissot watches are available to purchase at all good watch shops.
