From 7th to 17th September 2017 Food Zurich will be taking place in Zurich – a gastronomic adventure for all to enjoy!

There will be a total of 150 food related events taking place in and around Zurich. From traditional Swiss dishes to cutting edge international trends, from established restaurants to pop ups in interesting and novel locations, Food Zurich will be embracing all the various nuances of food culture in Switzerland in 2017.

The Zurich Street Food Festival, will be taking place during Food Zurich as an integral part of the event, at the site of the former Hardturm railway station.

There they will be showcasing lots of new culinary novelties. One of the events will focus on rediscovering the humble carrot – with innovative “Rüebli” dishes from the “Leaf to Root” authors Esther Kern and Sylvan Müller.

Another highlight is the Swiss Tavolata farmers, who will be guest-presenting at Zürich City Hotels with workshops, “tavolatas” and a hearty farmer’s brunch. The Tavolata ladies will be demonstrating the local cuisine from the Swiss regions from which they come, and Slow Food Youth will also be encouraging young people and children to take an active interest in healthy food.

Swiss author Andrea Fischer Schulthess from children’s theatre company Hannibal, will introduce children from the ages of 8 upwards to blindfold food tasting and at “Marmite Food Lab”, Patrick Marxer will explain how to prepare the perfect sausage!

As part of the partnership with the UN World Food Program (WFP), Mastercard will donate a school meal worth 0.20 euros to children in Africa for every payment made using a mastercard card for the FOOD ZURICH events. On four separate evenings refugees in Zurich will be preparing dishes from their own counties at the Holzschopf restaurant in Zurich.

At the opening of FOOD ZURICH on 7th September at the Food Hall in Jelmoli, Zurich’s top 5-star hotels, the Baur au Lac, Park Hyatt Zurich, Storchen Zürich, The Dolder Grand and the Widder Hotel will all be serving some of their most popular dishes for you to taste and enjoy, and afterwards in the Swiss Casino Zurich you can dance the night away with DJ Kurtis.

At the closing party will take place at the Engrosmarkt and both Food Zurich and FOOBY are taking part together with the motto “Eating is what connects us” as everyone enjoys the biggest culinary party in Switzerland which will take place across three halls and you have the chance to explore, taste and talk to the producers.
