David Wälti wins San Pellegrino Young Chef Swiss Finale


The San Pellegrino Young Chef Contest Swiss Finale took place on 4th September 2017 in Zurich and the winner was Daniel Wälti.

The Contest

Dinner at Restaurant Sonnenberg Zurich

The contest featured nine Swiss Chefs from all over Switzerland, and was acted out in two parts. First of all the chefs prepared their spectacular and delicious creations at Belvoirpark in front of the jury and then after a five course dinner at the Restaurant Sonnenberg high above Zurich, the winners were announced as follows:

The Winners

1st place: David Wälti, Souschef, Eisblume, Worb

2nd place : Filipe Fonseca Pinheiro, Souschef, Restaurant de l’hôtel de Ville de Crissier B. Violer

The Jury

The jury consisted of some very well known and illustrious chefs – André Jäger from Fischerzunft in Schaffhausen, Martin Dalsass from Talvo, Robert Speth from The Cheesery in Gstaad and Marcus Lindner from the Sonnenberg and the The Alpina Gstaad.

Daniel Wälti will go on to represent Switzerland at the global Young Chef Competition 2018 on 22nd-23rd June in Milan and we wish him the best of luck! Only one chef representing each world area can attend the Grand Finale where the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 will be announced.

The event took place in Zurich at the Restaurant Belvoirpark and the Restaurant Sonnenberg.
