Celebrating Food at the Slow Food Market Zurich 2017

One of the top events for foodies in Zurich is the annual  Slow Food Market. It is taking place at the Messe in Zurich Oerlikon from 10th -12th November 2017.  There will be delicious food and wine tastings, demonstrations, live cooking and lots more. Over 200 exhibitors will be present showcasing over 1,000 products. If you’re interested in good quality, tasty food and wine and you like to know where it comes from, then do visit! You can chat to the producers who can tell you all about their products and the traditional recipes they use, some of which have been handed down from generation to generation.

There are all sorts of food on offer from local meats, cheeses and truffles to traditional cakes and biscuits, chocolate, olive oils and vinegars – and lots more besides.  There are also a variety of wine producers and wine tasting opportunities too.

There will also be Slow Food producers from other countries present too – from Spain, Italy and Greece – all adhering to the same principals of quality food with regional ingredients. In fact no food with any additives will be accepted at the market, and Emanuel Lobeck, an expert at Slow Food Switzerland, has examined every product according to the Slow Food’s approval criteria before allowing it to be admitted to the event.

Slow Food is an international movement which was founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. It aims to preserve local, traditional and regional cuisine and to encourage good farming practices and the growing of food whose provenance is assured; food which has not been “processed”  – basically the antithesis of fast food.Celebrating Food at the Slow Food Market Zurich
