What’s On In Zurich Early January 2018 Onwards
Wishing you all a fabulous New Year! It’s been pretty wet and windy in Zurich the past week or so but let’s hope the sun will be back soon. In any case here are some suggestions for things to do in Zurich and places to go, come rain, wind or shine.
THREE KINGS DAY – 6th JANUARY: don’t forget to take down your Christmas decorations and go to the local bakery to buy a Dreikönigstag Cake – you might even end up being “King for the day” in your own house! Find out more here.
ZURICH HOCHZEITSMESSE 6 & 7th JANUARY: the annual Wedding Fair is taking place at the Messe in Wallisellenstrasse 49, 8050 Zurich on 6th and 7th January from 10am – 6pm each day. Entrance CHF 21, reduced and late tickets (after 4.30pm) CHF 12. For more information see here.
PHOTO18 Oerlikon 12th-16th JANUARY: “the” Zurich photo event is back in town from 12th – 16th January. It’s the biggest photographic event in Switzerland and this time it’s taking place in Oerlikon. The two locations are Halle 622: Therese-Giehse-Strasse 10, 8050 Zürich and StageOne: Elias-Canetti-Strasse 146, 8050 Zürich. Find out all about this great exhibition here.
SILVESTERKLÄUSE NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS: don’t miss the Silvesterkläse celebrations which take place in Urnasch in Appenyell on 13th January. Find out more here.
RUSSIAN NEW YEAR DINNER AT LE MUSIGNY 13th JANUARY: Restaurant Le Musigny in Seefeld is celebrating Russian New Year with a special dinner on 13th January. Find out all about it here.
SIHH 2018 GENEVA 19th JANUARY: Love watches? Then don’t miss this special opportunity to attend the 28th Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie taking place in Geneva from 15th -19th January with the public open day on 19th January. KLOSTER EINSIEDELN & THE BLACK MADONNA EXHIBITION: if you haven’t been already, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Kloster Einsideln exhibition at the Landesmuseum Zurich. It’s on until 21st January. More information (in German) here.
ROOM TO READ CHARITY KICK-OFF ZURICH CHAPTER 22nd JAN: interested in becoming a volunteer promoting literacy and gender equality in education? Why not join the annual kick-off meeting and apero introducing the work of Room to Read globally as well as the local Zurich chapter. All the core members and long-term volunteers will be there and you will get the chance to hear about their first hand experiences and the volunteer work they are doing. CHATEAU d’OEX BALLOON FESTIVAL 27th JANUARY – 4th FEBRUARY: the 40th edition of the famous Chateau d’Oex Balloon Festival takes place in Switzerland this year from 27th January to 4th February. A true explosion of colour in the sky, set against a snowy backdrop. Find out more here.
HONOLD CHOCOLATE VALENTINE WORKSHOPS 6th & 7th FEBRUARY: interested in a delicious chocolate experience in Zurich? Why not attend one of Honold’s special Chocolate Valentine Workshops at their atelier in Küsnacht. There are just 2 dates – 6th and 7th February 2018 at 7pm – 9pm! Why not come along with a friend or even a group of friends and enjoy this fun event? Each workshop can accommodate up to 20 people and the price is CHF 95 per person. THE WILDNIS PARK AT LANGNAU AM ALBIS: the Wildness Park at Langnau am Albis is open 365 days a year and is a great place to visit for all the family. They have a great selection of animals to see and what’s more it’s free! Find out all about it here.
THE TIERPARK GOLDAU: just around 45 minutes from Zurich the Tierpark Goldau had bears, birds, deer and lots more. It’s an exciting place to take the family and a great outing. Find out all about it here.
ART ON ICE 2018: looking forward a little, the Art On Ice skating event will be back in Zurich (and after in Lausanne and Davos) from 1st March 2018. There is a great line up and tickets are already selling fast. For ticket information see here.
