Where to View the World Cup in Zurich

14th June – 15th July 2018

This Summer one of the biggest sporting events in the world takes place – the 2018 World Cup (or WM as it’s called round here). 32 teams will compete in 12 stadiums for a total of 64 games. It all kicks off on June 14th and finishes on 15th July.

If you fancy watching the World Cup on one of the many large screen venues in Zurich, here is a list of some of the best to get you started! Bauschänzli

With a perfect venue overlooking the river Limmat, Bauschänzi is surely the prettiest open air venue where you can enjoy watching the World Cup, right in the centre of Zurich. With room for 800 people, 2 large screens , 9 TVs, and food hot from the grill, it’s sure to be a very popular venue.  Entrance is free.

Giant Public Screen at Halle 622 Oerlikon

With room for 800 people and a giant 25 m screen, Halle 622 in Oerlikon is bound to attract a large crowd. Entrance is free but if you are a large private group you might prefer to rent a lounge.

Fork & Bottle

The Fork & Bottle offer a great selection of craft beers with their special burgers  perfect to eat whilst you watch the World Cup on one their  five large screen TVs situated in the restaurant’s garden. Large parties are welcome. Click here to make your reservation.

Frau Gerolds Garten

Chill out at Frau Gerolds Garden where you can watch all the matches (whatever the weather) on a selection of 14 large screens. Groups of 30 plus are recommended to reserve in advance.

Sihlcity

Why not head down to Sihlcity shopping centre at Kalanderplatz to view the World Cup. You can view it on the giant screen or one of 4 smaller screens and there is a pop up food area too keep you from getting hungry! Entrance is free.

FIFA Museum

The FIFA Museum, the home of football in Zurich, not only offers large screen viewing but it is also organising a series of talks with football coaches as well as Swiss football players too.

Turbinenarena Kreis 5

 This is a really large venue with both standing and seated places for up to 3,000 fans. Tickets start at CHF 7.

Maag Halle 

With space for up to 1,000 fans, the Maag Halle public viewing at the Härterei Club will offer free  indoor public viewing on large screems with the option of renting a privte lounge.

The Elisaburg In Wiedikon

A smaller venue, the Elisaburg in Wiedikon, will be screening all games played in the World Cup from 6pm onwards, on large screens. Entrance is free.

Rooftop at Langstrasse 94

With a great atmosphere in the centre of Langstrasse, this venue with grill and bar is bound to attract a lot of footie fans. Entrance is free – but limited capacity!

Widder Garage

If you’re looking for a central Zurich location with a great ambiance, there’s not much to beat the Widder Garage in Augustinerhof 1 in the old town.

Bogen F

With one large indoor screen and four large outdoor screens, Bogen F looks forward to welcoming you for the World Cup. Grab a beer and enjoy the barbecue.

Amboss-Rampe

How about a combination of street food and football? You can watch the game whilst tucking into great food at Ambossrampe not far from the main station in Zollstrasse. Free entrance and space for up to 700 people.

Zum Glatten Köbi

This one is a bit of an institution as far as World Club viewing is concerned and apparently even when it’s full you can still get a clear view of one of the multiple screens available. Entrance is free.

Uster

Uster also has its own World Cup viewing area at the Zeughausareal in the town. With space for over 2,000 spectators and a 36 sq metre screen. Ticktets cost CHF 20.

The Winti-Arena Winterthur

If you take the train to Winterthur you can watch a giant 66 sq meter screen at the Winit-Arena. With space for 3,000 fans there is also a smaller, 34 sq meter screen. Lots of exciting food options too. Tickets cost from CHF 10.
