KindyROO – Parent and Baby Classes Now in Zurich!
Because active babies make smart kids
Living in Zurich with a new baby or a child under 5? Looking for classes that can really help your child develop both physically and mentally, and give them better confidence, improved social skills and help them with their learning too? Maybe you’ve heard of KindyROO classes?
Fairly new to Zurich but well established in Australia where it originated in 1980’s, it is an internationally recognised education program specifically designed for babies and children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years.
Two Centres in Zurich
There are over 150 centres in Australia, US, Asia and Europe and luckily for us, Cindy Chang has opened not one but two centres in Zurich. One is in the city close to Wiedikon and one is in Horgen.
What Is KindyROO Exactly?
Believing in the motto that “active babies make smart kids”, KindyROO is a weekly program in which both the child and the parent (or care giver) actively participate under the supervision of a trained KindyROO professional. Together with a small goup of other children and parents they learn fun exercises and games. The program has been specially designed to aid the development of the child’s brain and body, through gentle and playful exercise.
KindyROO is Based on Research
Dr Jane Williams,Director of Research and Development at GymbaROO and KindyROO, believes that babies who get the correct early movement experience in their first year “have better coordination, concentration, memory, behaviour and perception as they get older”. During the first year after birth, a baby’s brain grows most rapidly and thus this time is critical for learning.
KindyROO classes are all based on research which proves that the correct stimulation dramatically improves how the child behaves, reads and learns at school age. In addition it helps give them better confidence, as well as social and communication skills.
When Do The Classes Take Place?
Classes run all year long and you can join at any time. There are typically 4 terms of 10 weeks plus a Summer term throughout the year. Not only do the classes help you both bond together, but through repetition of these exercises at home (which is an important part of the program), you will notice some great improvements in your child’s capabilities.
What Age Children Can Participate?
The KindyROO program covers eight age groups from 6 weeks to 5 years.
What are the Benefits of KindyROO?
Children who have experienced the KindyROO program stand out from their peers. Often teachers, PE trainers and coaches, can immediately recognise those kids with better balance, coordination, gross and fine motor skills, greater concentration and ability to follow instructions more easily. This is an amazing advantage for any child and is a great help with their social skills and teamwork.
What Activities are Involved?
Typically classes may include massage, exercises which promote spacial awareness, balancing and focussing, musical instruments and rhymes for language, parachute activities, group dancing as well as exercises to improve both fine and gross motor skills.
KindyROO activities and exercises also help with socialisation, emotional relationships and communication, as well as preparing them for school with reading, writing and maths.
How much Do Lessons cost
Lessons are booked in terms of 10 costing CHF 290. They are introducing a new re-encolment bonus from 25th June. Book for the full term in the Summer, and benefit from one free class and one large equipment exercise session in the Autumn term in September 2018 when you re-enrol.
