Swimming Down the River Limmat
Frauenbadi Zurich
The 54th Limmat Swim took place on Saturday 18th August 2018, as usual starting at the Frauenbadi in the centre of town.
Once again the 4,500 tickets for the event, which had gone on sale the previous Wednesday sold out within just minutes. The Limmatschwimmen is proving to be one of the most popular Summer events in Zurich.
Unlike many previous years, the event took place on the first scheduled date and did not need to be postponed. Although the forecast had been a bit iffy, on the day there was a mix of sunshine and clouds and everyone looked happy to be jumping into the refreshing waters of the Limmat.
The swimmers’ luggage was transported along the river from the Frauenbadi by boat.
The current gently bobbed everyone along as they floated by on their yellow seahorse.
There was a relaxed atmosphere at Oberer Letten the final destination along the river.
Finally the boats which had been carrying the final loads of all the swimmers’ bags returned to the centre of the city.
The 55th Limmatschwimmen event will take place next year on 17th August 2019 – with a reserve date of 24th August 2019.
