Flying THAI Airways
From Zurich To Bangkok
Smooth As Silk
Earlier this Summer I flew from Zurich to Bangkok on THAI Airways and was lucky enough to have the opportunity to fly Business Class. I was flying on a 777 300 direct flight for a trip to Bangkok and Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand.
Check In and Welcome
After an efficient and very friendly check in at Zurich airport I boarded the plane and took my seat in the cabin. Welcomed with a choice of drinks and nuts I enjoyed a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne as I checked out the facilities.
Seating
The seats are wide and comfortable with plenty of room and the configuration of 1 – 1 – 1 across the interior made it perfect for privacy too. The seats look quite standard but in fact recline completely turning into very comfortable flat beds. The footwell goes really far forward so it was perfect – and also enables you to keep your bag and anything you may need to hand very close and convenient.
Business Class Toiletry Bag
It’s always nice when you get a cute toiletry bag to check out whilst you’re waiting for everyone to board and the THAI Airways one didn’t disappoint. A smart grey Furla bag was waiting on the seat as was definitely one of the better designed business class airline bags – (other airlines please note!). In fact it’s the perfect size for my iPhone battery chargers and cables when travelling.
Inside it had a toothbrush and toothpaste, a small bottle of mouthwash, hotel style slippers which were like flip flops but with a closed front, (making them far preferable to socks) and a lip salve and some moisturiser. All you need for an overnight flight.
For take off and landing all baggage needed to go in the overhead locker and with that duly done it was time to choose from the dinner menu and check out the films.
In Flight Dining
With both Thai and Western dishes to choose from there was a choice of Thai beef curry, Thai chicken curry or a Salmon dish. I plumped for the chicken curry was really tasty and was quite spicy too.
It was followed by a cheese course and then a white chocolate dessert. A good selection of wine was available to accompany the meal or, if like me you prefer champagne, you could stick to the Laurent Perrier. 🙂
After coffee and ordering breakfast for the morning it was time to sleep – oh, and maybe check out the movies – or the views out of the window.
In Flight Entertainment
A wide variety of films was available including plenty of recent releases and you could choose the language button quite easily. Comfy headphones completed the experience.
I arrived in Bangkok feeling refreshed after a great flight with excellent, efficient and extremely friendly in flight service. I should have slept a little more than I did as it was so comfortable – but I got a bit carried away with all the films!
Thai Airways Econony Seating
In THAI Airways Economy class the configuration is 3 – 3 – 3. Obviously not as spacious as Business Class, it does however, offer a comfortable journey.
THAI Airways Awards 2018
In fact you may be interested to know that this year THAI Airways won an award for the World’s Best Economy Class at the Skytrax 2018 World Airline Awards Ceremony. In addition they also won awards for the Best Economy Class Onboard Catering as well as the World’s Best Airline Lounge Spa.
THAI Airways has also been ranked as one of the 10 Best Airlines in the World and has received the Skytrax Award for the Best Cabin Crew in Thailand and the Best Economy Class in Asia.
So if you’re planning a flight anytime soon you may wish to choose THAI!
