Morning Glory in Chalong

Escaping the grey weather of early Winter in Europe, we recently headed to Phuket in Thailand for a couple of weeks of sunshine. We were not to be disappointed, but it was the amazing sunrises and sunsets which particularly impressed me.

Not being a morning person, the thought of getting up at 5am to chase early morning sunrises was not my idea of holiday bliss. However, when you get the chance to visit Chalong Pier in Phuket and witness the stunning sunrise colours unfolding right in front of your eyes, you realise it was all worthwhile.

Karon Beach to Chalong Pier

Leaving our base at the Mövenpick Resort & Spa at Karon Beach we arrived at Chalong Pier at around 5.45 in the morning and witnessed the most amazing colours. Literally every few seconds the light and intensity of the colours changed.

It was an amazing spectacle to behold and so impressive that it encouraged me to shoot the following morning’s sunrise too!

As the time progressed the colours turned deeper and more golden.

There was also an early morning peacefulness to the scene and the whole place resonated an inner calm.

However, the colours and beauty were only shortlived. As the sun rose through the skies it gradually decreased in intensity. The sunrises across the beaches all over Thailand are definitely to be recommended – so maybe something you might want to experience on your next trip to Thailand?
