Photo Highlights of Zurich at Christmas
Zurich Decorated for Christmas – In Non Covid Times
Zurich looks beautiful any time of the year, but at Christmas with all the lights, the colours and the decorations it really does sparkle! This year it will be different without all the usual Christmas Markets and the Swarovski Tree. However, take a look at some of our favourite Christmas photo moments from previous years.
The Swarovski Christmas Tree at the Christkindlimarkt at Zurich HB
The Swarovski Christmas tree at Zurich Main Station has to be one of the highlights! Laden with over 6,000 glittering crystals it stands 15m tall, a beautiful beacon at the Christkindlimarkt. Sadly it will be missing for Christmas 2020.
Underneath the tree there is always a beautiful display of Swarovski crystal jewellery.
Bahnhofstrasse Zurich and the Lucy Lights
Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse looks pretty with the Lucy lights suspended over it like giant snow flakes.
Santa and the Märlitram
Whilst you’re in Bahnhofstrasse don’t forget to look out for Santa and his fairy helpers driving along in the Märlitram.
The Singing Christmas Tree
And one of the loveliest traditions (in usual times) has to be Zurich’s very own Singing Christmas Tree.
Read all about the Singing Christmas Tree here.
The Wienachtsdorf Christmas Market usually provides a whole selection of international food to taste as well as an ice rink, a pop up fondue chalet, a merry go round and a compete program of entertainment from fire jugglers to stilt walkers.
The Christmas Tree at Paradeplatz always looks stunning against the backdrop of coloured lights.
The Illuminarium (not taking place for 2020)
The lights at the Illuminarium in the courtyard of the Landesmuseum create a fabulous atmosphere and a great place to meet up with friends and a night out in Zurich in usual times. See more photos of the Illuminarium here.
