Wishing you a great weekend and week ahead. Zurich will be extremely busy on Saturday with the Street Parade festival – so if you’re not into crowds you may wish to head to mountains – or maybe to Vevey for the last of the Fête des Vignerons! There are lots of other events and exhibitions on and if you like shoes don’t miss the Bally Shoe Exhibition which ends on Sunday.

STREET PARADE FESTIVAL ZURICH 10th AUGUST: On 10th August the annual Street Parade festival will take place all over Zurich. It’s the biggest Techno Party in Europe! Roads will be closed to traffic and there will be around 30 “love mobiles” or floats travelling through the city, lots of  music and people wandering round in crazy costumes – very different to the outside world’s impression of this city of banking! BALLY SHOE EXHIBITION TILL 11th AUG: Until 11th August a fascinating exhibition exploring the world of Bally Shoes at the Museum für Gestaltung. Find out all about it here.

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER: This week from 10th-14th August you may be able to see the Perseid Meteor showers in the sky. They are the dust-filled trails left behind after comets and according to the International Meteor Organization the best time to view them should be on the night of August 11th-12th, when approximately 50-75 meteors an hour will be visible in the night sky. Good luck!

LETHARGY FESTIVAL ZURICH 9th, 10th 11th AUGUST: The Lethargy Festival is taking place in Zurich form the 9th – 11th at the Rote Fabrik in Zurich. You can buy a 3 day pass or go on individual day. Find out more here.

FÊTE DES VIGNERONS UNTIL 11th AUGUST 2019: The Fete Des Vignerons is the once in a generation event that’s making people flock from all over the world to Vevey in Switzerland this Summer. This very special event only takes place about once every 25 years and it opened on 18th July and continues until 11th August. Don’t miss out – otherwise you may have to wait 25 years to see the next one! If you’d like to find out more take a look here.

WINTERTHUR MUSIKWOCHEN 7th – 18th AUGUST: Taking place in Winterthur from 7th – 18th August is the 44th edition of the Winterthur Musikwochen. The Winterthur Music Festival offer all types of music from jazz to folk-punk to Indie and everything in-between. For more information take a look here.

MORE SUMMER OPENAIR CINEMA IN ZURICH: Check out Zurich’s season of Summer Open air Cinema at the smaller openair cinemas too. From 7th – 17th August the Open Air Cinema on Lake Pfäffikersee is taking place. Find out all about Zurich’s Open air cinemas here.


ILLUMINATED ART ZURICH – FERDINAND HODLER & PAUL KLEE: From 8th August to 19th September the Illuminated Art exhibition is taking place at the MAAG Halle near Hardbrücke. See the art in a new light as it is projected. Visit the website here. 

VIRTUAL REALITY CINEMA ZURICH LAKESIDE 12th – 18th AUG: The VR Openair is taking place right on the lake in Lake Side. As well as offering a large range of 360 ° films to view there’s also lots of tasty food on offer too. Find out more here.

ZÜRCHER THEATER SPEKTAKEL 15th AUGUST – 1st SEPT: The annual Zürcher Theater Spektakel takes place at Landiwiese from 15th August to 1stSeptember. Situated directly on the lake there are live performances and acts, and lots of food and refreshment areas too. Find out all about it here.

LA TAVOLATA RAPPERSWIL 17th (24th) AUGUST: Mark your diaries for La Tavolata food festival taking place (as long as weather is fine) in Rapperswil on 17th August (back up date 24th August) from 4pm onwards. A long table will be set up in Fischmarkt in the centre of Rapperswil with a variety of chefs serving different types of food and there will be music too! Reservations not necessary. Decision on whether it will go ahead due to weather 3 days will be made before the date. More information here.

LIMMAT SWIM 17th (24th) AUGUST: The exciting Limmat Schwimmen event where you get to swim all the way down the Limmat is taking place on 17th August this year. Be ready to book your ticket as soon as you can as last year they all went in minutes! The reserve date is 24th August. See all the key information here.

ALLIANZ OPENAIR CINEMA AT ZÜRICHHORN UNTIL 18th AUGUST: The Allianz Openair Cinema right on the lake in Zürichhorn opened its doors on 18th July to another Summer season which continues until 18th August. It’s such fun to see movies in the openair on a giant screen on the lake. Click here to see the Allianz Openair Cinema Programme.
