After four days touring Switzerland in search of top Spa Hotels with Swiss Deluxe Hotels, it’s hard getting back to a normal routine! It was such a relaxing and pampering experience and each hotel and treatment was very unique and wonderful in its own way. 3 Unique Hotels in 3 Regions of Switzerland
I began my tour in the Italian part of Switzerland at the Hotel Splendide Lugano, then travelled to Bad Ragaz to stay at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz in the German speaking region and finally went to Le Mirador Resort and Spa in Beautiful Vevey, in the French speaking part of the country. Each hotel I visited had its own style, personality and regional flavour. Take a look below to find out more about these top spa locations and the facilities they offer.
Hotel Splendide Royal Lugano
First up I travelled to Lugano to visit the Hotel Splendide Royal. Located directly on the lake front, this grand hotel is a real classic. With its high ceilings, terrazzo floorings, extravagant chandeliers (some made of Murano glass) it is reminiscent of the sophistication of a bygone era.
The Spa
The Spa in contrast, is brand sparkling new and state of the art. It was only opened at the very end of July 2019. With its sleek lines, modern materials and gorgeous design it oozes class – and the chandeliers over the the swimming pool tie in with the sophistication and glamour of the older parts of the hotel.
The pool is beautiful and surrounded by an indoor / outdoor patio area furnished with beautiful and supremely comfortable loungers, many designed for two. A waterfall and lots of greenery in the outdoor garden add a touch of Asia and the pristine treatment rooms are located on the floor below.
The Spa Treatment
The Spa rooms are beautiful and modern with a view of lush greenery.
I had a the VIP O2 Facial with the lovely Lisa. Lasting a wonderful 90 minutes, this facial consisted of various different steps. After thoroughly cleansing my skin I had an acid peel and then the amazing oxygenation technique using the highly acclaimed Biologique Recherche products.
This treatment aims to purify, oxygenate and illuminate tired and stressed skin – which seemed to be the perfect prescription for me. The product were applied and combined with a tension-releasing massage which felt divine. Afterwards I felt so relaxed and my skin felt tighter, tauter and definitely more radiant. Lisa advised me to keep the product on my skin without cleansing or applying any make up, so that it could really sink in and continue to work deep into my epidermis over the next 24 hours.
I must say, I wasn’t very keen on going to dinner with no make up on, but honestly I think my skin was glowing so much nobody could tell!
The VIP O2 Facial lasts 90 minutes and costs CHF 250. The treatment is suitable for both women and men. Find out more about it here.
The Rooms
There are two parts to the Splendide Royal, the classic rooms in the main building of the hotel which date back to the early 1900s and the modern block. I was stying in a beautiful classic bedroom in the main hotel, but if you prefer, the newer block offers a more modern alternative. Top tip: the rooms facing the lake offer superb and ever changing vistas across Lake Lugano. Just watching the lake is simply mesmerising and a relaxation treatment in its own right.

Grand Resort Bad Ragaz
Following a 45 million franc refurbishment, the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is shiny, gleaming and new.
The opulent entrance lobby leads out on to a beautiful outdoor terrace and is redolent in expensive shades of duck blue and dove grey.
The Verve Restaurant (Sven Wassmer) is adjacent to the wonderful wine “cave” boasting 1,000 wines.
The grounds are simply stunning and the views to the mountains in themselves are invigorating.
The Rooms
The rooms were large and spacious and very tastefully decorated. I was in a lovely room with a small balcony with views across the gardens directly over the Tamina Spa. As well as being being elegantly decorated, it was also a delight for any tech junky like me. There were absolutely loads of plug sockets, USB sockets and it was just stunning. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the duvet was like a dream. A small balcony and a sofa area completed the look.
The Spa
The Spa area is large and incorporates many components.
There is everything from the Kneipp walking path, saunas, steam rooms and even a private spa area which can be booked for private occasions for example, birthdays and hen parties.

What’s more, as a resident at the Grand Resort hotel in addition to being able to use the hotel’s private spa area, you also have access to the public Tamina Spa area and all its facilities both indoor and outdoor.

The Haki Flow Treatment
I had the Haki Flow treatment which is an amazing water based relaxation treatment. I had to get up at 6.30am to head to the pool to enjoy this unique experience at 6.45 before the pool opened to the public. Devised by Harald Kitz it aims to help relax your spine and your muscles, to enable you to reach a state of total relaxation. Designed for people suffering from stress or who in need of relaxation, this holistic treatment works on the tension all the way from the head and down along the spine.
As I lay back in the large pool on a small floatation device, Nora, my Haki Flow therapist, who was in the water with me throughout, made sure I kept afloat, as she gently manipulated my body.
Nora, my Haki Flow therapist
The treatment took place in the 34 ° C warm water at the Tamina Therme pool whilst it was still closed to the public and in perfect tranquility. However, before going into the nice warm pool, you take a dip in the very cold pool which is just 17 ° C !!!!
The idea is to re-energise you and as you float in the water you are able to totally let go. Nora guided me through the water in a series of gentle movements, manipulating my spine, twisting me through the water, quietly and gently. It was an indescribably beautiful feeling and a treatment I definitely recommend to anyone who is feeling stressed. Afterwards, totally relaxed, you’re wrapped up in a warm towel and you lie down on a massage bed with a heated neck collar. Total bliss!
Haki Flow Treatment aims to calm the nervous and muscular system and to restore harmony between body and mind and Harald Kitz, personally trains all haki therapists.
It was an unusual and truly amazing treatment – one of the best ones I have ever experienced. The only thing I would say is that you may be in such a deep state of relaxation, that you may not be fit to drive or work for quite a few hours later as it really is so all embracing! It is perfect for anyone in need of total relaxation and I will be going back to do it again.
After the treatment why not go for a stroll around the beautiful hotel gardens or relax beside one of the pools?

Le Mirador Resort and Spa Vevey
When you arrive at Le Mirador Resort and Spa the first thing that strikes you as you walk through the reception is the view! It’s absolutely sensational. It feels like you’re inside a drone looking down and every few minutes it seems to change. The hotel is perched high up the side of the mountain and its unique location makes it feel really special.
The Rooms
My room had a fantastic view right over Lake Geneva and across to the mountains in the distance. As soon as you opened the door you were instantly drawn to the amazing vista. The room was large and comfortable, decorated in shades of taupe and brown. The balcony was set with a table and two chairs and two lovely loungers. I only had time to sit down for about 10 minutes on the loungers but even that was just so relaxing as the view is simply stunning and constantly changing.
The Spa
The Givenchy Spa at Le Mirador covers an amazing 18’800 sq ft and is calm and serene with breathtaking views over Lake Geneva and the Alps. The eleven treatment rooms are situated with views over the lake and again just watching the view is a treatment in itself.
The pool had a transparent dome like top which lets in lots of light and it adjoins an outdoor terrace with plenty of relaxing seating. In addition the hotel runs a variety of classes and there is a gym, a sauna and a hammam too. Whilst I was there I enjoyed taking part in an Aqua Fit class which was great fun.
The Treatment
I had a de-stressing back, neck, shoulder and leg massage and it was really excellent. You can choose from two Givenchy oils (one lightly scented and one without perfume) and I chose the scented one. Having broken my shoulder and arm earlier in the year, I have found that massage really helps relieve any stress and tension I get in the shoulders, and this treatment made my whole body feel relaxed and supple.
The massage is tailored to your exact requirements – how gentle or how hard, and in my case my therapist was able to concentrate particularly on my shoulders and back. At the end, suitably relaxed, I was led to a beautiful chill out room where I was able to simply lie down and chill and once again stare out at those stunning views.
