Hublot: The Art Of Fusion with Andreas Caminada & Yannick Alléno
Top Chefs & Top Watches Innovate Together at Enea Tree Museum
The other evening I was invited to a top culinary event at the Enea Tree Museum Park in Rapperswil-Jona by Hublot. It’s a wonderful park and museum created by landscape architect Enzo Enea which features 50 trees from more than 25 species, some of which are more than 100 years old. It was all set up with beautiful lights and the Hublot logo reflecting in the water – a stunning setting for a wonderful event.
Featuring two top three star Michelin chefs, Andreas Caminada and Yannick Alléno, along with Hublot’s CEO Ricardo Guadalupe, it was a fusion of top watches and top cuisine.
So what do top chefs and luxury watches have in common you may ask? Well in fact quite a lot, we learned. They are both passionate about what they do, constantly striving to improve, to innovate, to create better dishes, better watches, to break down barriers and to impress and delight their customers.
After a welcome Apéro the evening began with Andreas Caminada and Yannick Alléno giving a cookery demonstration and with Ricardo Guadalupe helping the chefs with the cooking.
Andreas Caminada began by demonstrating how created a magnificent soup.
Here, the chef who won the “Sustainable Restaurant Award” for his commitment to using local and organic ingredients, renewable energy and recyclable materials, chose cabbage as his key ingredient. Uninspiring you may think – but no, absolutely the opposite! This soup elevated the humble cabbage to new heights as the chef from Schloss Schauenstein created a masterpiece bursting with flavour, in which a sorbet outer shell created from a puree of cabbage was filled with a mousse.
Innovative, eye catching and sensational to taste. I will never look at a cabbage in the same way!
The Cabbage Soup
Parisian Chef Yannick Alléno, twice awarded three Michelin stars created a lobster dish to die for! It was so flavoursome and delicious. Yannick is known for reinventing classic French dishes and making them modern and current with a flamboyant twist.
There were further stunning dishes – and each one was a masterpiece in itself:
This “Steinpilz ravioli” was sublime
The fish was cooked to perfection…
… and was served with a delicious crunchy “Rösti” top on a bed of spinach
We also had the opportunity to check out the latest Hublot watches. Not only are they beautiful (and colourful) to look at, but they are masterpieces of engineering.
And a bright yellow Ferrari just added to the colour mix.
After something sweet to round off the dinner, all too soon this memorable evening was over. It had been a great opportunity to discover how much haute cuisine and a top watch brand like Hublot have in common and to see them working together.
Extensive knowledge and know how, combined with a passion for good craftsmanship are needed in both industries. Of course, a prerequisite for creating the best is to use outstanding ingredients – be they cabbage or lobster, or gold or rubber. It was indeed a fabulous and most delicious evening in the Art of Fusion.
