Sion Christmas Market
It’s Christmas time all over Switzerland and there are so many great Christmas Markets. One wonderful Christmas Market is the one which takes place in Sion, the largest Christmas market in the canton of Valais. Running from 6th to 23rd December 2024, the market is located at Place du Midi and its surroundings. Over 130 artisans will showcase unique jewellery, textiles, local delicacies, liqueurs, teas, and more.
One very interesting activity is the Nativity Trail, featuring 20 handcrafted nativity scenes created by local groups and displayed at key spots in Sion’s historic centre. This FREE 90-minute walking tour runs from 8th December 2024 to 6th January 2025.
You can also experience Sion’s cultural heritage with the new “In the Footsteps of the Dames de Sion” tour, highlighting two women who shaped the region’s history. The tour includes a stroll through Sion’s old town, wine tastings from Les Fils de Charles Favre and a tasting of the traditional Valais pastry speciality called “Cholera”.

Located in the Rhône Valley, Sion boasts over 2,000 hours of sunshine annually, making it a perfect destination for Christmas magic and winter adventures.
