On 21st September dog lovers and their furry companions will take over a swimming pool in Canton Zurich for a special day dedicated to canine fun. The public swimming pool in Opfikon is once again hosting its annual dog swimming day, an event where dogs can dive into the pools, splash around, and even try out the slides. It’s a day for both dogs and their owners to enjoy the water together as a celebration marking the end of the swimming season.
The idea for this event came about after many guests frequently asked if their dogs could join them in the pool. Typically, dogs are not permitted due to the risk of them drinking the chlorinated water, which can be harmful to them.
However, each year since 2020, the pool management has gradually reduced the chlorine levels as the summer season draws to a close. By the time the dog swimming day arrives, the chlorine is nearly gone, making it safe for the dogs to swim and play without health concerns.

Around 200 people are expected to attend this year’s event – and you may even see dogs using the slide during the event! What’s more, there will be free entry for all!
