Züri Carneval Fasnacht 11.11
November 11th Fasnacht Activities in Zurich
Every 11th November in Zurich the Züri Carneval takes place all over Zurich with special celebrations in and around Hirschenplatz in the Niederdorf. Make sure you get there before 11am as that’s when the square fills up and gets very busy. At 11 minutes past 11 in the morning it all kicks off.
After a while, the various groups of Guggen players split off and march in different directions, each finding a corner, or a place in the street to play their music.
Favourite places to play include the Niederdorf, along Limmatquai, across the Rathaus Bridge and as far as Sechselaeutenplatz, Bürkliplatz and Bahnhofstrasse.

Along with the Guggen music, steel drums, costumes, masks, painted faces there is great atmosphere and tons of merriment. If you’ve not been before it’s worth a trip to see the costumes, listen to the music and watch the processions.
It’s tiring performing and wearing a costume all day – so you have to grab the chance for a rest when you can!
