FLOW – An Immersive Music & Art Experience in Zurich

At the Wasserkirche from 9th January – 3rd February
This winter, Zurich welcomes a striking new immersive experience that brings classical music, digital art and architectural heritage together in an unforgettable way. FLOW transforms the vaulted interiors of the historic Wasserkirche Zürich into a fully immersive, 360-degree world of sound, light and moving images, accompanied by one of classical music’s most evocative compositions.

Created by the Zurich-based artist collective PROJEKTIL, FLOW is inspired by The Moldau by Bedřich Smetana. It’s a symphonic poem that traces the journey of a river from its source to its wide, powerful flow. In this new interpretation, the music becomes the backbone of a multi-sensory experience that surrounds the audience from floor to ceiling.

Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and The Moldau
At the heart of the production is a newly arranged and recorded version of The Moldau, by Martin Skalsky and performed by the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Classical orchestral passages are expanded and reimagined through electronic elements, refined sound design and subtle beats, creating a bridge between tradition and modernity. Together with violinist Tobias Preisig, the creators give Smetana’s work a fresh, cinematic dimension.
High Resolution Projections on the Walls of the Wasserkirche
Visually, FLOW is just as compelling. High-resolution projections animate the historic stone arches of the Wasserkirche, turning the space into a living artwork. Light, colour and motion flow in harmony with the music, echoing the rhythm and energy of water itself. The result is a form of “tone painting” that feels both powerful and intimate.
Lie back on Beanbags and Enjoy
Lasting around 30 minutes, FLOW is a prefect cultural evening in the city and a great introduction to immersive art for visitors of all ages. There are beanbags on the floor and you can simply recline on them and face the ceiling and the organ where you can really appreciate the colours and the images.
Suitable For Children 5 and Above
It is recommended for children aged five and above, making it a great option for families as well as for lovers of music, art and innovative digital storytelling.
