It’s been a fantastic year so far for skating pair Tatiana Volosozhar from the Ukraine and her Russian partner Maxim Trankov. They have been successful in winning a whopping two gold medals at the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. They were friendly and down to earth when we met them in Zurich and explained how it had been a massive honour for them to win gold in their home country and how pleased their families were. They have ben further honoured by being invited by Russian President Vladimir Putin, to a private party in Moscow on the 27th February, from which they will be flying back to take part in Art on Ice.

Halloween in Zurich

Halloween will be here before we know it! Have you any plans? Of course there is always trick or treating to be had and the supermarkets are selling pumpkins and carving kits to get you started on your own works of art – but here are a few more ideas:

Halloween Family Day at Jucker Farm in Seegraben

As well as having an amazing pumpkin exhibition (see previous post here) Jucker Farm also hosted the weigh-in for the largest pumpkin in Switzerland (and would you believe, the world!). Beni Meier’s pumpkin from Pfungen, Canton Zurich actually weighed a record-breaking 1053.5kg but sadly due to a small hole it got disqualified from the official prize!

Largest pumpkin in the world

Jucker Farm also have a special Halloween Family Day on Saturday, 26 October  from 1pm – 5pm at their farm in Seegraben just outside Zurich.

As well as pumpkin carving (and eating pumpkin food!) there will be lots of entertainment for children of all ages with face painting, Halloween games and lots more. Entrance to the farm is free and there is a Halloween Family Ticket that you can buy for CHF 50 for the whole family, no matter how many children you have. For more information please go to the website.

The price is CHF 100 per person and it takes place on October 31st and on 1st November. Please email for more information or go to the website.

Glocals Halloween Party at Kaufleuten
