A Fabulous Staycation at the Historic
AMERON Bellerive au Lac Zurich
We recently enjoyed a fabulous staycation at the historic AMERON Bellerive Au Lac Zurich. It was part of a circular road trip from Zurich to Lucerne to Davos and back to Zurich in conjunction with Genesis Europe and AMERON Collection Hotels.
Touring the AMERON Collection Hotels Switzerland With Genesis Europe
We set off from Zurich and toured to Lucerne and Davos in a convoy of wonderful Genesis cars which included the Genesis GV70, the company’s most popular SUV, the fully electric Genesis GV60 (pictured above) and the Genesis GV80. As well as enjoying a fabulous ride we also had the opportunity to test the cars on a variety of different terrain. We drove through city centres and wide open roads as well as mountain tracks, discovering the 3 hotels which make up the AMERON Hotel Collection in Switzerland.

After visiting the very centrally located AMERON Flora Luzern and staying overnight at the AMERON Swiss Mountain Resort Davos, we headed back to Zurich to the AMERON Bellerive Au Lac, arriving in Zurich one gorgeous, sunny afternoon.
We had just enough time for a speedy check in, a quick dip in the lake (which is just 50 metres across the road from the hotel) and a drink at the bar before getting ready for an Apéro riche on the 5th floor balcony.
Dinner at Studio Bellerive
Afterwards it was time for dinner at Studio Bellerive, where we enjoyed a magnificent feast of “sharing dishes” prepared by Chef Marcel Oesterreich.
Studio Bellerive has become a popular restaurant for locals as well as hotel guests and the delicious dishes are beautifully presented and full of flavour.
Art Deco Hotel in Centre of Zurich
The hotel’s central location in Zurich is fabulous and it offers magnificent views over the city and the lake.
Everything in Zurich is easily reachable either on foot or via public transport, from nearby Opéra. This beautiful “grande dame” of Zurich was originally built in 1928 and is full of Art Deco glamour. Over the years it has been reinvented in many different guises and has an extremely interesting and varied history!
Originally built as an apartment block, it boasted the very first indoor tennis courts in Europe. Then in 1932 it was converted into a large hotel and the indoor tennis courts had to go. Instead, the premises became the very first television studios for SRF, known by the name “Studio Bellerive”. The studios are probably best known as the place where the famous German New Year Classic “Dinner for One” was filmed.
Later on AMAG acquired the building and and the ground floor was turned into a showroom for luxury cars. The hotel was located upstairs and it became quite a popular event location over the years with its beautiful interiors and stunning views. However, the hotel was never the success it should have been and was in need of refurbishment. Finally, after being acquired and renovated by the Althoff Hotel Group, it reopened in 2021 and became the third AMERON Collection hotel in Switzerland.
Bedrooms at Hotel AMERON Bellerive Au Lac
There are 61 stylish bedrooms including 5 exclusive Junior Suites and a luxurious Maisonette Suite. All the rooms are well designed, with lovely bathrooms and extremely comfortable beds. The bedrooms exude a nautical flair with lots of Art Deco touches throughout.
The lake-facing rooms have beautiful views and I was lucky enough to have a little balcony too. You feel as it you are on holiday, waking up looking directly at the lovely lake, yet you’re so close to the centre of Zurich. It was simply delightful and at the end of my stay, I really didn’t want to leave!
