A Relaxing Stay at Hotel Precise Tale Seehof Davos
Davos is a great location for skiing and sports and did you know that at 1,560 m above sea level, it is the highest town in Europe? We’ve just come back from a wonderful break at the Hotel Precise Tale Seehof Davos and we really enjoyed our stay. We found this newly renovated five star hotel to be most welcoming. All the staff were really friendly and there was a relaxed charm to this traditional hotel.
Fabulous Location – Next to the Parsenn Ski station
The hotel is lucky enough to occupy a fabulous location in the village. Ideal for skiers and mountain lovers, it is located right next to the Parsenn Ski Lift station! You can literally jump out of bed and be in the funicular heading to the slopes in a matter of minutes if you wanted to. Not only that, but it’s just 3 minutes walk from the Davos Platz train station. Usually we drive to mountain locations, but on this occasion we came by rail (even with skis!!) and it is perfectly do-able from Zurich – especially if you choose a train with only one change at Chur.
The Hotel Precise Tale Seehof Davos
The Precise Tale Seehof Davos – The Oldest Hotel in Davos
The Hotel Precise Tale Seehof Davos, is an historic hotel and is in fact the oldest hotel in Davos, dating back to 1869. It still retains quite a lot of its history and retains its warm “Chalet” feel, but has been gently updated with modern elements like the beautiful fireplace in the lobby surrounded with comfy cushions, right next to the new bar.
Typical Davos Klosters Style Interiors
The interior design is in the traditional Davos Klosters style and is by Theres Bärtsch of B&B interior furnishings. In the corridors there are some original pieces of furniture from Graubünden dotted around, along with original art works. A nice touch mixing the old and the new in such an historic hotel.
The Bedrooms at the Hotel Precise Tale Seehof Davos
There are 113 rooms, suites and apartments, most of which are panelled in pine wood, which according to Yves Noack, the director of marketing is said to help to you sleep better and I certainly think it gives a lovely mountain scent to the rooms.
The rooms range from the 20 m2 and 25 m2 Superior rooms to the studio with cooking facilities and the 70 m2 suite. There is even a family apartment, which is specially designed to meet the needs of families with children, offering 102 m2 living space and two bedrooms, a living and dining area with a fireplace and a kitchenette.
Our bedroom was a Superior room and very spacious and light, though I felt it could have done with a few throws and cushions on the bed, but apparently these touches are in the pipeline. The bathroom was stylish and modern with black granite and stone and glass.
Three Restaurants
There are three restaurants serving traditional Swiss mountain food as well as classical international cuisine and we had breakfast in the light and spacious Panorama Restaurant, which also serves international cuisine and dinner at the Chesa Restaurant. Executive chef Marco Braun, previously worked at the Adlon Kempinski Berlin, and his team use lots of regional and seasonal ingredients in their menus and our food was delicious.
Nüssli Salat
Ribs
Truffled Steak served with cauliflower puree and vegetables
The delicious Creme Schnitte
We also had these delicious chocolates in the room waiting for us when we arrived.
Fondue Stübli
During the Winter season there is also a Fondue-Stübli serving all variations of fondue from “Fondue Chinoise” and truffle fondue to the Davos cheese mix from the nearby “Chäsi” cheese store.
The well stocked bars offers a fine selection of digestifs, spirits and cocktails next to the lovely cozy fireplace.
The Bella Vita Spa at The Precise Tale Seehof Davos
As I was in no rush to go skiing again (after a shoulder operation a year ago), my husband hit the slopes whilst I decided to chill! In fact I really enjoyed my time relaxing at the 400 m2 Bella Vita Spa at The Precise Tale Seehof Davos and could easily have spent the whole day there. It’s modern and new and the perfect place to relax – whether or not you have had an active day in the fresh mountain air.! The Bella Vita Spa offers a wide selection of treatments, massages and facials and I had the most amazing massage from Andrea, the very friendly Spa Manager. She completely personalised the treatment for me and after her custom made massage I felt like a new woman! 🙂
Jacuzzi Whirlpool in Balla Vita Spa
I also really liked the jacuzzi whirlpool with the mountain background and after enjoying the steam and the sauna it was wonderful to chill out on the comfy loungers next to the fire in the relaxations area. As well as a whirlpool, a Finnish and bio sauna, a steam bath, foot baths, an ice station and an adventure shower there was also a small gym with the latest equipment.
What To Do
Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Winter Hiking, Sledding and More in Davos
Davos offers visitors a real ski paradise as there are around 300 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes for skiing and snowboarding in the seven surrounding snow sports areas. There is also cross-country skiing to be had (from the end of October,!!!) and a four-kilometre-long snow trail in the Flüelatal. In fact the entrance to the World Cup trail and one other trails is just 350m from the Precise Tale Seehof Davos. Plenty of Winter hiking trails and four sledging and toboggan runs covering a total of 18 kilometers also make for a lot of outdoor fun.
Winter Walk Around The Frozen Davosersee
We went waking around the frozen Davosersee lake, which is about 10 – 15 minutes from the hotel and is very picturesque and scenic. It takes about 1 hour 30 minutes to complete depending on how fast you walk and there is a car park right in front of it, if you are driving.
Hotel Also Caters for Business Events
The Precise Tale Seehof Davos also offers modern conference and banquet facilities for up to 80 people and four of the rooms are completely panelled in antique Swiss pine.
A Friendly Caring Hotel
We really enjoyed our stay here and one of the things that made a difference for us was that all the staff were just so friendly and welcoming, making us feel relaxed and at home from the start. Nothing was too much trouble and then even organised a ride in a Horse and Carriage at very short notice (stay tuned for more on this in a separate blogpost!). The location is also really fantastic whether you want to head to the slopes or simply wander around town and go shopping and the spa is just so lovely.
