Hotel d’Inghilterra – Starhotels Collezione Rome
Fancy a trip to Rome, the eternal city? On our recent trip to the Terme di Saturnia Spa and Golf Resort in Tuscany we discovered a wonderful and very luxurious boutique hotel in Rome called the Hotel d’Inghilterra. Rome is just one hour from Zurich by plane – so it is super easy to get to for a long weekend or a mid-week break and this hotel is the perfect place to stay!
Rome is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the city offers so much to see and do. Everywhere you go you come across historic buildings, ancient Roman monuments, beautiful villas, stunning fountains and gorgeous squares. On top of that it is of course home to the Vatican and a city destination which is simply perfect for enjoying the “dolce vita”.
After arriving at the airport we made our way by taxi to this charming 5 star luxury hotel, where we received a warm and friendly welcome and a speedy check in before going up to our room. The staff told us that the hotel gets its name “The Hotel d’Inghilterra” from the fact that this area of Rome has for hundreds of years been particularly popular with the English.
It is also decorated in a very English boutique hotel style which I loved and even the bar (above) reminded me of a lovely English pub.
In fact there were some lovely lounges and public rooms on the ground floor which were all beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
Each Bedroom and Suite at the Hotel d’Inghilterra Is Unique
The hotel dates back to the 16th Century and has 84 rooms and suites. The hotel has been undergoing a program of renovating all the rooms and each room is individually designed and furnished with antiques and luxurious fabrics. All the rooms are unique in both style and decoration so as to retain the original character and charm. The rooms are all equipped with modern amenities including air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi and some have beautiful views over Rome’s historic city centre.
Our room was really beautiful with a super comfortable bed and had a lovely ensuite too.
Hotel D’Inghilterra Has A Perfect Location in Rome
One of the things I think is key to a successful city break is having a centrally located hotel and the Hotel D’Inghilterra certainly ticks all the boxes in this respect! It is situated right in the heart of Rome. In fact it’s literally around the corner from the Spanish Steps, one of Rome’s most iconic landmarks and within walking distance of the stunning Trevi Fountains. The area is surrounded by quite a few pedestrian streets so it’s great for walking. It is also home to some of the city’s best shopping locations being just a few steps from the popular Via del Corso shopping area. There are also lots of great dining destinations close by making it the perfect base for exploring Rome.
Café Romano Restaurant
The Hotel’s Café Romano Restaurant, has a lovely outdoor space along Via Borgognona, and you can enjoy a delicious breakfast and dinner here as well as coffee, cocktails and snacks throughout the day.
