Swiss photographer Christian Bobst is presenting a portfolio of photographs at Photo18 Zurich. Entitled “The Magic of Africa and the World”, he will also be giving a live presentation at the exhibition at StageOne in Zurich on Monday 15th January at 8pm. Bobst, who hails from Solothurn, is one of the most famous photo reporters in Switzerland.
He has won numerous awards and accolades including the prestigious American NPPA “Best Visual Journalism” Award and with the World Press Photo Award. In particular he was much lauded for the “The Gris-Gris Wrestlers of Senegal”, photographs all about African voodoo wrestlers, which he photographed for the German Stern magazine.

At photo18’s photoFORUM, the award-winning self-taught photographer will be talking about his many travels around the world, particularly in Africa and will be illustrating them with his colorful images of people and landscapes. Bobst’s photos tell stories – the stories he see with his own eyes and in this way he considers himself more of a photographic storyteller than a photographer.
