There’s a stunning new piece of art at Zurich’s Main Station which will be in place from 30th June – 27th July 2018. The artwork is by one of Latin American’s foremost contemporary artists, Ernesto Neto from Brazil.

Entitled GaiaMotherTree the work is a collaboration with the Fondation Beyeler and the sculpture is made out of brightly colored hand-knotted cotton strips in the shape of a tree. It reaches up 20 metres right to the ceiling in the Zurich HB, Switzerland’s busiest train station.

GaiaMotherTree is a huge walk-in structure and can be used as a meeting place or for workshops and tours.

You can find Ernesto Neto’s art work and sculptures in the collections of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate Modern in London, and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Ernesto Neto’s work was also on display at Art Basel this year.

Don’t miss the Finissage event on Saturday 28th July featuring the artist Ernesto Neto. There will be electronic music as well as sounds from the Amazon at 8pm, followed by chanting at 10pm.
