The exhibition “What does Switzerland eat” at the Swiss National Museum Zurich uncovers the secrets of Switzerland’s national cuisine and takes a look at its importance and role in Swiss daily life. As well as sustenance, food means a lot more to the Swiss.
You will learn about the importance of regional specialities in Swiss cuisine and about how the Swiss have loved eating meat ever since the 19th century when consumption began to rise. Fondue is also featured in the exhibition and we learn how its popularity was partly the result of a marketing campaign by the Swiss Cheese Union in 1930, although the original is said to date back to 1699 .
Find out lots more interesting facts by visiting the exhibition which is on from now until 23rd September 2018!
