Photo Highlights Oensingen Firework Display 2018
The Oensingen Fireworks only take place every three years in Switzerland (read here to find out more). So when the 17th March 2018 came round and it was rather misty and foggy, the show went ahead despite the inclement weather.
Photographer Geoff Pegler was out with this photo equipment and managed to capture these great shots despite the rather ethereal conditions. However, the cloudy weather did provide a certain moody feel to the event which was not unattractive.
All over Switzerland the weather had been mixed – rain, fog, snow and a mix of all three. It certainly wasn’t the Spring like atmosphere the organisers had been hoping for. They were undoubtedly disappointed with the committee and all the volunteers having prepared this event for the past three years that the cloud suddenly arrived just before the display was about to kick off.
Despite the conditions it was a beautiful display and since the next one will be in 2021 – there is a long time to wait to enjoy this very extravagant firework festival.
The Oensingen Solstice Fireworks are a traditional Swiss Festival and first started in 1912.
We hope you enjoyed these photos and maybe you will want to visit the next festival in 2021?
As a contrast, here are some photos which Geoff took when he visited the firework festival in 2012:
