Photo Highlights of the Sechselaeuten Kinderumzug
If you were in Zurich on Sunday 16th April you may have wondered why the traffic was either moving at a snail’s pace or completely diverted.
Well it was due to the Kinderumzug, or Children’s Parade – part of the Sechselaeuten celebrations, which traditionally takes place the day before the main processions, and the burning of the Böögg at 6pm precisely at Sechselaeutenplatz on Monday.
The streets were packed as the crowds came out to watch the processions, hear the bands and see the poor Böögg on a horse driven cart, as he was paraded through the centre of Zurich ahead of his fate with fire on Monday!
Photographer Geoff Pegler made his way through the crowds to take these great photographs to give you a flavour of the event.
The weather was fine and sunny and there was a great atmosphere in the centre of the city.
There was plenty of colour with all the beautiful costumes as children threw sweets and flowers into the crowds from their baskets and the bands marched by.
We hope you enjoyed these photos from the Children’s Parade and don’t forget the Böögg is set alight at 6pm sharp on Monday 16th April 2018.
