5 minute Hummus Recipe
Got visitors? Going to a pot luck party and need to take something to share? This is a very easy hummus recipe that tastes delicious and takes only 5 minutes to make.
1 x can of chick peas (place chick peas in a sieve and rinse thoroughly in cold water before using)
If you take the skins off the chickpeas it adds a good 5 minutes to the recipe – but is supposed to make them more digestible.
3 tablespoons tahini
1 tablespoon water
6 tablespoons of good quality olive oil (& a little for drizzling)
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 .5 teaspoons cumin powder
1 medium garlic clove mixed to a paste with 1/2 teaspoon salt (don’t be tempted to use more as it can be overpowering)
It’s best to use a pestle and mortar but if not just smash and chop the garlic with the salt and the blender should do the rest)
Corriander (optional) or a sprinkle of paprika for garnish
1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blitz. Pulse and blitz to get an even consistency.
2. Check for flavour – add more cumin, salt or lemon juice as required.
3. Serve in a bowl with some (optional) coriander and drizzle a little olive oil over the top.
