No Fail Cranberry Sauce for Christmas Turkey
If you can’t find Cranberry sauce in Switzerland, or would prefer to make your own – this version by Mary Berry is simply delicious and you really can’t go wrong. You can usually find frozen cranberries in the supermarket quite easily. All you need to do is put all the ingredients in a large saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 450g frozen cranberries (you can use fresh if you can find them)
- 225g granulated sugar
- finely grated zest and juice of 1 orange
- 50ml port (optional – if you don’t have any port it’s not the end of the world !)
- 50ml cider vinegar
- a generous pinch of ground allspice
- a generous pinch of ground cinnamon
Method
- Place all the ingredients into a saucepan and bring to the boil.
- Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. I will be a bit runny to start with, but it thickens as it cools.
- Serve warm or cold with turkey or cold meats.
You can keep in the fridge for up to 3 weeks. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
